From THINK PROGRESS:
Last week, former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) gave Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidates Scott McInnis and Dan Maes an ultimatum: drop out of the race and make room for him under the Republican Party ticket, or face his third party candidacy. It turns out Tancredo is following through on his threat. The Denver Post broke the news earlier today that Tancredo will seek the nomination of the Constitution Party once he files some papers and registers as a member. However, Tancredo is running into some heavy opposition from his own right-wing base.
Today, leaders of 21 state Tea Party groups sent an open letter to Tancredo, accusing him of “betraying” them and asking him to reconsider. The groups quoted Tancredo, who once said that “leaving the [Republican] party is not the answer.” Chairman of the Colorado Republican Party Dick Wadhams took on a harsher tone in what was described as an “all-out-brawl” with Tancredo that took place on Peter Boyles’ KHOW radio station this morning [...]
…snip…
In itself, Tancredo’s decision to run under the banner of a party which claims that its platform is “predicated on the principles” of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights is rife with irony. Just last week, Tancredo’s absurd interpretation of the Constitution led him to call for the impeachment of President Obama — claiming that Obama is “awfully close” to violating his oath of office by not securing the border and identifying him as “a more serious threat to America than al Qaeda.”
…snip…
Tancredo claims his candidacy is motivated by the fact that the two Republican candidates are “unelectable.” However, state GOP officials believe a Tancredo candidacy is a potential disaster. In a separate statement, Wadhams concluded, “If Tom Tancredo carries through on his threat to run as a third party candidate, he will be responsible for the election of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper as governor and for other races that will be imperiled as well.”

Rep. Tancredo is a reprobate.
Every time I hear of him, I have another reason to dislike him. Racist, ethnocentric, religiously manipulative, Nativist, etc..
It’s about time that the Tea Party realize that they have bigoted elements in their midst that should be condemned.
No, wait … that’s not what got him in trouble.
Still, it’s about time that they realize that he’s no good.
he’s just a narcissistic little twerp who runs his mouth and runs for office to feed some insecurity within himself. maybe his father hated him, or he got picked on for being short or effeminate, or maybe people have always hated him just because he’s so loathsome.
I hear that evil people sometimes have trouble making friends.
some evil people have to buy friends.
There’s a joke about Rentboy and that AFA guy in here somewhere, but I would never stoop that low …
; – )
there’s a joke in there somewhere about “stooping low,” but i wouldn’t stoop that low…
Ooh, I wish I’d thought of that!
My inadvertent jokes are usually twice as funny as my deliberate ones … kind of frustrating, that.
if you had thought of it, that would mean that your mind is as dirty as mine. that’s not a good thing, wken. stay as nice and wholesome as you are.
What a total dickhead! I don’t want you 2 running for office as the same party as me or I’m going to run in my own party! WAAH! WAAH! I know the GOP/Tea Party are filled with intellectually-deficient people, but boy. This guy is a total asshole!
these asswipes love to cite polls when they appear to support what they support. power to the people and all that crap. however, when there’s an election, and the people speak, they suddenly don’t give a damn what the people think when they lose (*see lieberman). they only play by the rules they like.
Divided they fall~ so Run Tancredo! Run!!!
i’m almost tempted to donate to his campaign!
I agree. I completely support Tommy-boy’s slash-and-burn candidacy. Maybe he’ll do the same in the presidential race in 2012. His egotistical belief that he’s the only person who can rescue the country can help Dems and Progressives.
i don’t think he actually believes that. i think he’s a little man who wants to be a big man, so he’ll do and say anything in order to remain in the spotlight.
You got to like “imperiled”.The malcontents of these lunatic fringe groups are going to be quite disappointed with the electoral orgasm they so desperatly seek. A month after the election they will devolve into the same screaming factions that the Perot remnants became.
imperiled is probably on the scary-words list that frank luntz updates on a daily basis. i almost feel sorry for all the teabaggers and rethugs who live in fear 24/7. almost, but not quite.
I remember the day Kos ran Tancredo off MSNBC. That was something to behold. Speaking of the Big Orange, thanks for dropping by my diary!
that was hilarious! tancredo looked like a little spoiled brat who didn’t get his way.
you don’t have to thank me for dropping by your diary. i thoroughly enjoyed it. i didn’t fully understand what had happened from your comment yesterday, and the diary explained it to me. the comments were very entertaining, too.
