Disfigure of Speech

Washington (CNN) – There may be two House Republicans giving high-profile responses to President Obama’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday night, but House Majority Leader Eric Cantor made it clear that it’s the new House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, not Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who is speaking for the GOP.

“Paul Ryan is giving the official Republican response,” Cantor said when asked at his weekly session with reporters if Bachmann’s response will step on the GOP message.

After House Speaker John Boehner and Senator GOP Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Friday that Ryan would deliver the GOP response, the Tea Party Express put out word that Rep. Bachmann would also be commenting on the President’s speech and they would broadcast her remarks on their website.

…snip…

Lumping Rep. Bachmann in with the rest of the entire membership of Congress, Cantor said, “You know Michelle Bachmann, just like the other 534 members of the House and Senate, are going to have opinions as to the State of the Union.” The House Majority Leader added, “This is a process that happens every year and I look forward to all comments,” and noted again that Ryan’s was the official Republican response to the president.

Translation: OMG! This woman and her teabagger buddies are so embarrassing, but we’re scared shitless that they’ll challenge us in primaries, so we have to make believe we like them.

You perfectly kept the expression of dementia on the woman’s face… πŸ˜†

  2. Nice work. I like the fine arts editions. πŸ˜€

How bad do you have to be to embarrass people who are generally shameless? 😯

  3. Friend of the court

that little dog looks just like joementum. love the bust of st. ronnie. fine art, indeed.

  4. Key-rist! Batshit Bachmann will make an ass out of herself and hence the rest of her brethren in the GOP..I love it! I hope she really waxes poetic..er stupid. You know..like she always does..not knowing her ass from her elbow. πŸ˜‰

    • i can’t wait for her rebuttal! it should be on any moment now. did you hear her last fairytale reading? you know, the one about how the u.s.a. was founded by fairies (the good kind, not those gay ones) and unicorns? it sounds like she got some voice coaching. she was using her inside voice.

In addition to the above, I am particularly partial to two nuanced touches:
    1. the priceless startled expression on the GOP elephant as Michelle cups firm his family jewels and
    2. how the bust of Ronnie resembles Joseph Stalin-meet-Chuck Heston hybrid.

but hey, maybe that’s just my warped imagination.
PS: gawd, how all of us progressives in MN CD6 are praying that the voice of Jesus tells Rep. Batshit to run for President.

    • latte!!! πŸ˜€

it’s been forever since you’ve been here! it didn’t even occur to me that batshit bachmann had a firm grip on the poor elephant’s family jewels, so thanks for making me look smarter than i really am. πŸ˜‰

thanks, too, for catching the st. ronnie bust in the back. i was wondering if anyone would do a highlights-for-children find-the-hidden-pix comparison between this and the original.

did you catch the moaner lisa from a couple of days ago? it’s all ready to be enlarged and carried around to protest batshit bachmann! πŸ™‚

Gee, I wonder if anyone remembered to double the order of extra-screechy filters?

  7. I didn’t watch Madame Representative, but the word on Twitter was that she spent the whole time NOT LOOKING INTO THE CAMERA. Wow. I guess if she made eye contact, the viewers could see that there was nothing behind her eyes.

    • i missed the beginning, but i was laughing my ass off, because she was staring at something to her right, and it was very distracting. πŸ˜† plus, her makeup was put on with a trowel. i was surprised she was able to speak without her face cracking and flaking to the floor.

      • I read that most of us were watching the CNN feed. Madame Representative was looking into the Tea Party camera, not the CNN camera. Way to ignore the largest audience!

Also, I’m going to start using Tweety’s nickname for her–Balloonhead!

    • I guess if she made eye contact, the viewers could see that there was nothing behind her eyes.

Or she was afraid her audience would turn to stone. That “Moaner Lisa” version of her would certainly do it!

I noticed the Reagan bust right away — the bat at Bachmann’s shoulder took a little longer. I guess I just expect them whenever I see her.

I still have this horrible feeling that the whole idea of a Bachmann Presidential run is a gambit by the Palin camp to make her look sane by comparison.

      • good job picking up on the st. ronnie bust and the bat. it took me forever to figure out where the bat should go. i didn’t want it to be too obvious, and i guess i succeeded. maybe i should have contests to see who picks out all the things i’ve changed from the original pictures.

  8. Watched BB on the HuffPo/Fox link (they make you watch 30 second commercials). She sure points her fingers a lot. Usual crap ,there’s no problem in life that can’t be cured by tax cuts and unfettered capitalism. Same old exaggerations and distortions. And the more that BB is on the media, the less Bearmother! Sarah who? And I did see the Enquirer headline at the Save-mart tonight about Todds nookie problems.

    • the only thing more hilarious than bb’s sideways-looking appearance is that it must be driving princess sarah crazy that bb is stealing all her thunder. i have to google to see if there’s anything new in the toddy affair. hmm, looks like the cops are covering for him, but i find it very, very odd that princess hasn’t tweeted about her victimization at the hands of the nati’l enquirer.

  9. Update-Just watched the BB speech to the Iowa Tax Worriers over at Ceskas blog. Shit for brains, jello? She seems to be working up to an appearence on “Are you smarter than a third grader”. Really liked the analogy of the country being like the Titanic heading straight for the iceberg. Bad new toots, the liner would most likely survived a head on that would collapse the bow but leave the integrity of the hull protected. This happened to the first steel ship with watertight compartments, S.S. Arizona that slammed one in 1889 and stayed afloat. And all that settler dribble is crap since half the early ones were prisoners or endentured. “the founding father worked tirelessly for racial equality” Horse shit! “John Quincy Adams would not rest….”?!? Well, he rested several decades in a pine box before the slaves were set free. And on and on with this “we’re chosen” nonsense. I believe the POG has it candidate now!

    • someone should remind her that the titanic sunk, because there was a lack of regulation and because the corporation that owned it cared more about profits than their passengers.

i think bb got her history degree at glenn blechhh university, where the bookstore is stocked by the texas board of education.

      • Oh so true. International Mercantile Marine (read JP Morgan) controled White Star and were hell bent on capturing the Blue Riband on the first crossing. They didn’t let little things like the coal fire in bunker 2 slow them down. Or understaffing. Or not enough binoculars (the officers were hogging the few available. As Walter Lord remarked in his updated book The Night Continues,he was amazed at the realization that they ran two whole degrees (49-51) without hitting anything. There was also extreme bias to radio messaging. White Star used Marconi system and would not accept or acknowlege the German liner reports because they used Telefunken sets. And Captain Smith would not slow the 21 and a half knot speed for any reason. And as far as BBs advice to steer around it, that’s what did them in. With the Harlan and Wolfe triple screw system, the outer one respond to being reversed, but the center one uses the secondary steam of the other two and only goes forward. So when the starboard was ordered reversed on the telegraph and the helm put over, it meant you will slam the side into the berg. And without newer pesky government regulations, with 2 hour and 40 minutes on a glass calm sea, a lot of folks were left to perish. H&W had turned down a double davit system the year before from the Swedish designer because the didn’t want the extra expenses.

I love this comment from the WPost: Bachmann, for her part, airbrushed George W. Bush out of the recent economic history of the country. I didn’t listen to her speech, but apparently she used CHARTS and GRAPHS! For real entertainment, sure to attract millions, let’s just put Palin and Bachmann in a mud wrestling match. Not that I would watch.

  11. Wow! We can count on Bachmann to deliver the crazy! Yes she is staring off to the right– most appropriate– she’s off in “right field” somewhere reading from a teleprompter off in the distance.

She said “real spunding (then corrected herself) spending cuts are coming. ”

This little part of her speech left me slack jawed, asked “What the…. is she talking about”

“Just the creation of this nation itself was a miracle. Who can say that we won’t see a miracle again? The perilous battle that was fought during World War II in the Pacific at Iwo Jima was a battle against all odds, and yet this picture immortalizes the victory of young GIs over the incursion against the Japanese. These six young men raising the flag came to symbolize all of America coming together to beat back a totalitarian aggressor.”

And that has what to do with the 2011 State of the Union address?????

“And I believe that America is the indispensable nation of the world.”

Indispensable= not subject to being set aside or neglected

It’s a little late in the game, Bachmann, but I’m pretty sure G. W. Bush already sailed the ship of neglect re the U.S.

Whatever the numbers were when Bush left office, were about to drop off a cliff as he left office, leaving the country in financial ruin. The job loss free fall was well underway, Bush just left before it & the sub prime mess were beginning to implode.

But before she exits, she throws in this fluff:

“We will proclaim liberty throughout the land. And we will do so because we, the people, will never give up on this great nation.”

Yea, because liberty was at stake??

Oh & just to sound a little bit presidential, she ends with the classic SOTU
    traditional closing line:

“So God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.”
