Got To Be There

Ummm, in Iowa, not in Iraq!

Mitt Romney:

The good news is that we have a volunteer Army and that’s the way we’re going to keep it. My sons are all adults and they’ve made decisions about their careers and they’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard.
One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.

When I get a song and dance, I want music!!! And funny outfits!!!

Original CD cover.

To the tune of Got to Be There (Written by Elliot Willensky, performed by the Jackson 5):

Got to be here (got to be here),
Be here in the heartland,
We’re too chickenshit for Iraq.

Got to be here (got to be here),
Be here in the RV,
With a non-caffeine drink and a snack

Did you see that radio host,
And the moment that he gave poor Daaaaahhhhhhd,
A verbal kick in the groin, here in Des Moines?
He needs us fighting those battles beside him.

So we’ve got to be here (got to be here),
Be here, do the blogging,
And try to get Dad some more votes,
Cram nonsense down Iowans’ throats,
Deny all his old quotes,
(Got to be here)
He needs us spreading the bullshit beside him.

That’s why we’ve got to be here (got to be here),
Be here so fearlessly,
Our own little army of five,
Safe as can be and alive,
While other sons fight, we’ll drive!

Oh, yeah,
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here, got to be here (to be here).
Got to be here…….

Side B of the Romney double-play:

Very funny take on the CD cover. Very pathetic take on the Romney family.

Exquisite song parody. Exquisitely painful that it so truly represents reality.

“It’s got a good beat and you can dance to it” (Did you know that American Bandstand had its 50th anniversary on August 5?)

thanks, nightowl! i had no intentions of writing a parody. it was going to be just the album cover, but i had to find a title, so i looked for songs that the jackson 5 did. i know that you know how it is when you get a little germ of an idea for a song. damned thing took me hours to write. very strange cadence (or whatever it is called in musicese) to that song.
happy anniversary to american bandstand!! i rarely watched it (if i ever saw it at all, don’t remember). where we lived, we didn’t get that channel.
