But…but…but all of Chimpy’s buddies are getting rich!

From the Los Angeles Times:

WASHINGTON — As President Bush spoke about the state of the nation’s economy recently in the century-old Grand theater in New Albany, Ind., his words were as cheery as the vaudeville acts that once played there.

But the storyline beyond the stage is closer to film noir.

Loose Lips Sink Chimps

From The Associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan blames President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for efforts to mislead the public about the role of White House aides in leaking the identity of a CIA operative.

Uh-oh! This can mean only one thing. Scotty’s got himself a new nickname!!!

Frances the Talking Tool

Or maybe the walking tool.
From Fran Townsend’s resignation note:

In 1937, the playwright Maxwell Anderson wrote of President George Washington: There are some men who lift the age they inhabit, til all men walk on higher ground in their lifetime.

When Push Polling Comes to Shove

From the Chicago Tribune:

CONCORD, N.H. – The GOP presidential campaigns of Mitt Romney and John McCain — rocked in different ways by a highly negative “push poll” targeting Romney’s Mormon faith — demanded Friday that the New Hampshire attorney general investigate who is behind the tactic.

The attorney general’s office said it was investigating the phone calls.

Rudy wants us to forget….

From the Washington Post:

Before deciding to run for president, Rudy Giuliani might have consulted the late William Faulkner, who studiously said, “The past is not dead. In fact, it’s not even past.” If America’s mayor didn’t know that before, he certainly knows it now.

They keep coming, don’t they? Those hauntings from the past. First, his friend and former police commissioner Bernard Kerik was hit with a 16-count indictment last week on various charges of corruption and mail and tax fraud. Then, this week comes Judith Regan, once a Kerik mistress and former publisher of ReganBooks, claiming in a lawsuit that two executives at her imprint’s parent company, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., told her to lie when investigators questioned her about Kerik. The lies, she says, were meant to protect Giuliani’s presidential bid.
