Double-speak: Losing My Freligion

Mitt Romney:

Freedom requires religion, just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone.

Freedom. Religion. Can’t separate them. Let’s save some time and just call it Freligion ™.

Now, sell it, Mittsie!!!

When Good Toons Go Bad

Kids, I hope you are sitting down, because this is shocking news, via the Associated Press:

Tweety, Donald Duck Summoned to Court
ROME (AP) — Tweety may get a chance to take the witness stand and sing like a canary. An Italian court ordered the animated bird, along with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and his girlfriend Daisy, to testify in a counterfeiting case.

What is this world coming to? Is the Disney Corporation so cheap that its employees have to counterfeit money in order to survive? Do cartoon characters like Italian food? Who else is involved? Why is Chris Tweety Matthews hanging out with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Daisy? So many questions. So few answers. So much tragedy.

Wonder Who Is Washing the Mitt Mobile

From The New York Times:

Mitt Romney, who has relentlessly wielded the issue of illegal immigration against his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination in the past few months, is facing an embarrassing new revelation that the landscaping company at his home in Massachusetts was found for a second time to be employing illegal immigrants.

Mr. Romney announced yesterday that he had fired the company, Community Lawn Service of Chelsea, Mass.

I bet Mittsie was for the lawn before he was against it. I doubt pushing a lawnmower is within his skill set. This could be a sitcom!

Gimme That Ol’ Time Religion

From The New York Times:

Mitt Romney will deliver a speech entitled “Faith in America,” addressing his Mormon religion, on Thursday at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Tex.

The George H. W. Bush Library? Hasn’t the old bastard caused us enough suffering already?

His campaign is describing the address as an opportunity for Mr. Romney to “share his views on religious liberty, the grand tradition religious tolerance has played in the progress of our nation and how the governor’s own faith would inform his presidency if he were elected.”

Religious tolerance? Hmmmm, I think I will ask all the Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, and atheists who are currently running for President about that.

But He’s Still Not Gay…

Here we go again, kids!
From the Idaho Statesman (Hey, kids! They have audio interviews over there!):

David Phillips. Mike Jones. Greg Ruth. Tom Russell.

Four gay men, willing to put their names in print and whose allegations can’t be disproved, have come forward since news of U.S. Sen. Larry Craig’s guilty plea. They say they had sex with Craig or that he made a sexual advance or that he paid them unusual attention.

They are telling their stories now because they are offended by Craig’s denials, including his famous statement, “I am not gay, I never have been gay.” Those words, spoken on live national TV on Aug. 28, are now memorialized on a just-released-for-Christmas Talking Senator Larry Craig Action Figure.
