From CNN’s Jack Cafferty
There is a reason the McCain campaign keeps Governor Sarah Palin away from the press.
This is a direct excerpt from Katie Couric’s One-On-One interview with Sarah Palin, which aired Wednesday on CBS.
COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? … Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?
PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.
If McCain wins, this woman will be a 72-year-old heartbeat away from being president of the United States.
Jack Cafferty unloaded on Sarah Palin’s “disastrous” interview with Katie Couric Friday afternoon on CNN, telling Wolf Blitzer, “There’s a reason the McCain campaign keeps Governor Palin away from the press.”
After showing a clip of Palin stumbling over Couric’s question about the bailout and offering an answer connecting the bailout to healthcare, Cafferty asked, “Did you get that?”
He warned the viewers: “If John McCain wins this woman will be one 72-year-old’s heartbeat away from being President of the United States. And if that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, it should.”

There was some kind of debate last night, and Captain Underpants told war stories and said Horse$hit twice on national TV. Call the FCC!!
Joe Biden was all over the tube after the debate, but Princess Sarah was conspicuously absent. When Wolf Blitzer said that he would like to have her on the show for an interview, Anderson Cooper replied, “Don’t hold your breath on that one.” The same sentiments were expressed on MSNBC.
According to the Associated Press (whom I no longer quote, because they are doody-heads), Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be at rallies in Greensboro, N.C., and Fredericksburg, Va. tomorrow. Captain Underpants will be in Warshington, and Princess Sarah has no public schedule.
Cindy Lou McCain has to stop curling her hair. Instead of looking younger, she is starting to resemble Bette Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, and it’s really creeping me out.
