The Hate Talk Express

From Politico:

Sen. Joe Biden said Wednesday that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has gone “way too far” in her attacks against Barack Obama.

“It’s just malarkey, flat malarkey,” Biden said on CBS’s “Early Show” of Palin’s attacks linking Barack Obama to former 1960’s radical William Ayers.

“You know, the idea here that somehow these guys are, once again, injecting fear and loathing into this campaign I think is mildly dangerous,” Biden added.

“I mean, some of the stuff she’s saying about Barack Obama and the stuff that people are yelling from the crowd, if she hears it, she should be at least saying, whoa, whoa, whoa; that’s overboard. I mean, you know, this is — this is volatile stuff. And it’s — I just — I felt we were kind of beyond this place that it seems to be going.”

From The New York Times (editorial):

It is a sorry fact of American political life that campaigns get ugly, often in their final weeks. But Senator John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have been running one of the most appalling campaigns we can remember.

They have gone far beyond the usual fare of quotes taken out of context and distortions of an opponent’s record — into the dark territory of race-baiting and xenophobia. Senator Barack Obama has taken some cheap shots at Mr. McCain, but there is no comparison.

Despite the occasional slip (referring to Mr. Obama’s “cronies” and calling him “that one”), Mr. McCain tried to take a higher road in Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

Ninety minutes of forced cordiality did not erase the dismal ugliness of his campaign in recent weeks, nor did it leave us with much hope that he would not just return to the same dismal ugliness on Wednesday.

Ms. Palin, in particular, revels in the attack. Her campaign rallies have become spectacles of anger and insult. “This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America,” Ms. Palin has taken to saying.

That line follows passages in Ms. Palin’s new stump speech in which she twists Mr. Obama’s ill-advised but fleeting and long-past association with William Ayers, founder of the Weather Underground and confessed bomber. By the time she’s done, she implies that Mr. Obama is right now a close friend of Mr. Ayers — and sympathetic to the violent overthrow of the government.

Her demagoguery has elicited some frightening, intolerable responses. A recent Washington Post report said at a rally in Florida this week a man yelled “kill him!” as Ms. Palin delivered that line and others shouted epithets at an African-American member of a TV crew.

Mr. McCain’s aides haven’t even tried to hide their cynical tactics, saying they were “going negative” in hopes of shifting attention away from the financial crisis — and by implication Mr. McCain’s stumbling response.

We certainly expected better from Mr. McCain, who once showed withering contempt for win-at-any-cost politics. He was driven out of the 2000 Republican primaries by this sort of smear, orchestrated by some of the same people who are now running his campaign.

In a way, we should not be surprised that Mr. McCain has stooped so low, since the debate showed once again that he has little else to talk about. He long ago abandoned his signature issues of immigration reform and global warming; his talk of “victory” in Iraq has little to offer a war-weary nation; and his Reagan-inspired ideology of starving government and shredding regulation lies in tatters on Wall Street.

But surely, Mr. McCain and his team can come up with a better answer to that problem than inciting more division, anger and hatred.

  1. her rallies are looking like Klan rallies — she is one friggin scary dude

one can hope if the is an obama landslide that she cowers away forever

and the troopergate report out tomorrow buries her once and for all

i have a new movie up!

  2. as it happens, i just this minute got back from your movie, dcAp! very scary!! 😯

  3. Friend of the court

distributorcap, that is one scary whore movie.

  4. Friend of the court

nonnie, no question, Palin will sink lower than whale $hit. She is the lowest common denominator that the Repubs could come up with and Chimpy set the bar mighty low.

  5. I think this campaign (thankfully) is Palin’s political suicide. She should not have let them make such an ass out of her. But then, she’s just your run of the mill political asshole, so I guess she saw her chance & pounced.

  6. fotc,
doesn’t $hit float? maybe she will just drift out to sea and eventually wind up in the bering strait among the polar bears, where they will eat her. now, that would be justice! i’ll pay for the cases of tums for the polar bears. 😉

  7. helen,
princess is a moron, because she could have secured herself a seat in the senate or perhaps a place in a future rethug administration. instead, she pissed off the people in alaska by allowing capt underpants’s people to interfere in state business. now, i think she is a laughingstock not only to most americans, but to alaskans as well.

  8. indeed, nonnie, the Alaskans seem to be turning on her like Montecore on Roy Horn! I saw some mighty impressive pro-Obama rallies there, and apparently her approval rating took a nosedive.

  9. helen,
she was popular up there, because she followed frank murkoski, who was the most unpopular. it was just the pendulum swinging all the way back. not only is her approval rating going down in alaska, but her negatives go up all the time nationally. i can only see them getting worse, except among the raging fundies.

The hard-core 20% have found their home again after Bu$h-Vader used them and left them standing on the side of the road. McPalin picked them up on the Hate Talk Express and is now using them as a prop audience for regurgitating their racist BS. The problem is that it’s really hard to take these folks out in public because their idea of normal is anathema to he rest of us.

  11. jeb,
i don’t think this is chimpy’s 20%. this is a different subset of the rethug party. these are the haters, the white sheet wearers and the skinheads. i don’t think even chimpy and deadeye dick would associate with these guys.

  12. jeb

Sure they would. This is who they targeted in South Carolina against McCain. I know that the argument can be made that they tried to stir the latent racism of more normal folks but they sure counted on this network to help move that message along. Rove will use whoever/whatever will get his candidate over the top.

  13. jeb,
yeah, i know that they will get their votes and take their money wherever they can, but that was done more sneakily. chimpy and deadeye dick wouldn’t actually be seen with them. of course, they were shoulder to shoulder with the gun nuts, but not secessionists and lynch mobs. princess sarah has drawn all the cockroaches out into the light and have given them the imprimatur of respectability.

  14. jeb

I’ll give you that Nonnie. She does have the ability to bring out the worst in people.

  15. jeb,
she doesn’t bring it out. it was already out, but she gives them permission to flaunt it and a soapbox to shout out their ugliness from.

Oh so sorry that someone is finally brave enough to point Obama out for what he is. And the Democrats are whining because the golden boy looks bad. Get a life. This is hard ball folks and if the media had done their job and given some of it to Obama before now, I would not have to write this because he would not be in the race. If he can’t take it he should get out of the race. Even when the media lies to Sarah Palin about what has been said about her she doesn’t whine about it. So just stop complaining. If you had a candidate worthy of the position it wouldn’t matter what we knew about him. Instead he’s hiding everything because he knows the more we know about him, the less likely he will sit in the White House.

  17. Joe Mac

The comments by Jed and Nonnie “0” are scary. To think these idiots are allowed to vote. They cannot be for real. They are the most misogynistic and racist knuckleheads going. They label people what they are. They don’t have a job and that is why they are Obamazombies. They want government to fix all. I hate to break it to you. The gov cannot fix a thing. Obamee is going to raise taxes on corporations and the corporations are going to raise the cost of their goods and services and lay off more people. You will get more gov handouts and everything will cost more. You will be right back where you started from. Stupid and lazy.

  18. Alex

This is not a well thought out comment, because i’m about to get the hell outta the office. All I want to say is that Shirley sucks!! woooooo!!!

ps – ALL politicians are a$$holes; you think you can get ‘elected’ president by being a nice guy all your life?

  19. BarbaraH

I am so sick of McCain and his rude and distorted bashing. Truth is one thing, but when you twist it to fit your own plan, that is just too much. Who in this world is perfect and you don’t hear Obama bashing Palin or him in ways that his campaign does the Democratics. Speaking of “Who Is He” in regards to Obama…McCain, all I have to say is…”How Could You?”

McCain has no dignity. I believe that more now that I have read this. It simply broke my heart.

    You form your own opinion:
    You can find it here:

  20. PJ

    Surely, Shirley,
You don’t equate lies and personal attacks with pointing out the flaws of another candidate’s position? It’s very sad if you don’t know the difference. Obama doesn’t need to say anything about Palin (and I don’t believe he has), because Palin has dug her own grave. She is her and the Republican’s own worst enemy.

  21. catch Mcain express and America find
the way.Catch Obama express and America going down the drain.

  22. shirley and joemac,
sweet talk me all you want, but i still won’t vote for captain underpants and princess sarah. better luck somewhere else! 😀

  23. alex, barbara h, and pj,
welcome to the raisin! 😀 i don’t think you will make much headway with the likes of shirley and joemac. just like their preferred candidate, they bash those who don’t agree with them instead of presenting cogent arguments to support their thinking.
hope you will all come back and comment again soon! 😀

  24. gee yolanda, how can i argue with something that wouldn’t even make a good t-shirt slogan? i give up. you win. 🙄

  25. Joe Mac

The media has put Obama in. He is a great speaker but, if he was white he would be cast down after Reverand Wrong started to pontificate. This is not about being qualified for the job. This is a promotion because of color. However, he is more normal than Jackson and that freak Sharpton. This is the only candidate that the blacks have and will have for a long time. Good thing I’m rich and have locked up all my money up from the dems. The poor people are going to starve worse in this country after Hussein is the Muslim in charge. Me and my friends are going to sit back and watch the 4 year melt and then the dems will be obsolete. The rich will stay rich and the poor will get poorer. Take money from me and I will lay someone off. Go ahead. I have another lazy person for you. I have a worker that is not as smart and productive as the rest. Her name is Nonnie “0”

  26. hey joe mac,
did you copy and paste that from one of your white power websites? so glad to hear how wealthy you are. all that starch for your white sheets must get expensive.

  27. Joe Mac

I’m not against black people. I have met Bill Cosby and Walter Williams who are both very normal and concerned about the message that black people are getting. I hope when Obama is elected by the media that the black people will finally take responsibility of their families and their own future and stop waiting for handouts from the dems. If there was not poor people then the dems would be obsolete. The dems only survive from peoples pain. Look at the survey by the PEW research:
No matter who is in office the Republicans are still happy. Because I have freedom and control my own destiny. Don’t let the dems hold you down people. Go out and make a change. Not a change of government but, a change of your life. If you change the world has to change. Don’t let the dems hold you down and run this country into the Socialistic ground. In 200 years we have done more than countries with a 1000 years.
