Making Things Kristol Clear

From William Kristol at The New York Times:

It’s time for John McCain to fire his campaign.

Original DVD cover.

He has nothing to lose. His campaign is totally overmatched by Obama’s. The Obama team is well organized, flush with resources, and the candidate and the campaign are in sync. The McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic. If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed.

He may be anyway. Bush is unpopular. The media is hostile. The financial meltdown has made things tougher. Maybe the situation is hopeless — and if it is, then nothing McCain or his campaign does matters.

The 2008 campaign is now about something very big — both our future prosperity and our national security. Yet the McCain campaign has become smaller.

From Think Progress:

Right-wing pundit Bill Kristol was attacked today by the McCain campaign after declaring that John McCain is waging a “pathetic campaign” and should “fire” his staff. Spokesperson Nancy Pfotenhauer said Kristol had “bought into the Obama campaign’s party line,” while Tucker Bounds said, “I know Bill Kristol is an intelligent guy, I just don’t think what he had to say was very intelligent.” This afternoon on Fox News, Kristol fired back:

Is John McCain the best messenger for his campaign? Why isn’t he on this show? Why do we have Tucker Bounds and a bunch of nice young kids who are spokesmen out there spinning implausibly on behalf of the McCain campaign? McCain is better than his campaign.

You can watch the video of Kristol at the link. I’ll be over in the corner chuckling. 😆

    “Is that clear?”

Of course in Bad Billy’s mind, it’s all about the campaign, you know strategy, message and appearance. The kind of thing that makes media pundits perform acts of self-gratification on camera.

God knows it couldn’t be that his lovely party drove this country into a ditch with him in the back seat yelling out directions. It couldn’t be that the average American looks at the CF created by the Rethug party and figures it’s time for a change. No, No, just shoot the messengers and it will all be OK.

Billy, if shooting the messengers is the solution, shouldn’t you be at the head of the line you insufferable prick?

  2. jeb,
i think the rethugs are going to change their logo. instead of GOP, it will now say CYA. they are embarrassed, and they can’t wait to throw capt u and princess under the nearest bus just to try to salvage a sliver of credibility. i think it’s too late. 😛

  3. GREAT poster. Let me just say: I loathe Kristol. He grosses me out like no one else. I don’t exactly know why, except that it’s because he’s loathesome.

He is so ugly and he’s NEVER RIGHT. That’s the only thing that worries me about what he said.

He’s always wrong. Not sure why anyone ever quotes him or even pays attention. Braindead hack…

  4. thanks helen,
i can’t stand him either. it drives me crazy when he is on the daily show, and jon stewart is nice to him. i want him to reach over the desk and punch him in the mouth. he’s a sniveler. he snivels. he thinks he’s better and smarter than everyone else, and he has an air of disdain for anyone who disagrees with his greatness. 👿

  6. glad you stopped by, nightowl. i knew you would catch that! 😀

I loathe Kristol, too, HelenWheels. And I’m pretty sure I know why. He’s a pompous a$$ cut from the same cloth as William Buckley but with access to the man behind the curtain and Bush’s brain. It is his bone-headed blatherings that both influenced those intent on the dismantling of our government and connived with those same idiots to deceive the American public into swallowing their particular brand of bull$hit based on fear and obfuscation.

But at the very heart of why I loathe him is his snide, superior attitude. As far as he’s concerned he’s never wrong, he’s the only genius in the room and everyone should bow to his greatness. He’s a legend in his own mind.

    He is truly loathsome.

  8. i guess we won’t be starting a william kristol fan club anytime soon?

  9. All these chicken$hit GOP pundits are suddenly turning on McCain, whom they hated all along anyway.
The first really obvious sign was a few months ago when that nattering nabob Peggy Noonan thought she was off mike and got caught saying the Palin choice was “bull$hit.”
    It’s too little too late.
They’re all bandwagoneers, as phony as we already knew they were.
As soon as Obama takes office, they’ll start in on him with as much venom as they usually hurl at Democrats.
They deserve no credit for finally realizing their horse is dead. They were dimwitted by taking this long to admit it.

If you’re a con and Billy-the-slime is calling you out you’re in trouble. This is a man who faithfully served the idiot Quayle as his chief-of-staff. His “Weekly Standard” is a bar so low that you’d need a telescope to see it. As Gotta so rightly points out, he’s his number one fan.

  11. Got a Grip

Well, nons, I’m all for starting a fan club for dear, dear William as long as it involves showing up on his doorstep with torches and pitchforks. We’d all have to have gas masks, too, as I hear that brimstone puts off some powerfully toxic fumes.

  12. i think that, just like the rethug party, the conservative pundits are interested in promoting and protecting only themselves. with very few exceptions, i don’t think they really believe the $hit they spew. it is merely a way to pad their bank accounts.
now, excuse me, i have to put in my asbestos overalls and sharpen my pitchfork. 😉

  13. Off topic and a day late (par for the course for me), This might add some amusement to your day Nonnie –
