Right, But So, So Wrong

To the tune of You May Be Right written and performed by Billy Joel

I’m the leader of my party,
Really mean and so old-farty,
Vote for me, make sure nothing will change,
The right is stuck with me,
Since they ditched Mike Huckabee,
They ignore the fact that I am quite deranged.

Captain Underpants and the Supremes

From the Washington Post:

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., May 6 — Highlighting an issue he plans to use aggressively in the general election campaign, Sen. John McCain on Tuesday decried “the common and systematic abuse of our federal courts by the people we entrust with judicial power” and pledged to nominate judges similar to the ones President Bush has placed on the bench.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said that Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. “would serve as the model for my own nominees, if that responsibility falls to me,” highlighting the gap between Republicans and Democrats on the question of who should sit on the Supreme Court. Both justices have established strong conservative records since Bush appointed them, and the appointment of one more conservative to the nation’s highest court could tip the balance on issues such as abortion, discrimination, civil liberties and private property.

The thought of John McCain is just too ap-Paul-ling!

From the Los Angeles Times:

As far as Sen. John McCain is concerned, the Republican presidential nomination is a done deal and he’s working on uniting the party behind him. But thousands of Republicans — particularly supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul — aren’t buying that.

In the Pennsylvania primary, more than 215,000 Republicans cast ballots for Paul or former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who quit campaigning weeks ago. Together, they captured 27% of the Republican vote..

Meat the Pwess

NEW YORK (AP) — No one doubts she’s hard-driving. But she has never learned to drive, Barbara Walters reveals in her new memoir, “Audition.”

And she allots six pages from the book’s 612 for a startling confession: Her “long and rocky affair” in the 1970s with politician who was married and — further upping the ante — an African American. This covert romance between U.S. Senator Edward Brooke and Walters, then co-host of NBC’s “Today” show, made headlines (and raised eyebrows) when it was leaked last week.

Well, that’s not gonna curry favor, Chimpy!

From The Hindu:

NEW DELHI: Right across the political spectrum, parties were one in criticising the remarks attributed to U.S. President George W. Bush who suggested that prosperity in India had led to demand for more food and hence the rise in global food prices and shortages.
