Don’t Ask, Don’t Mattel

From ABC News:

ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: The McCain-Palin campaign’s efforts to reach women is about to get a celebrity boost: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is set to join Gov. Sarah Palin on the campaign trail.

“The View” co-host said Thursday the McCain campaign contacted her a day earlier, to convey an invitation from Palin to introduce her at rallies Sunday in Florida.

I always thought that Elisabeth was Cindy Lou’s bestest buddy, but I guess she’s been handed down to Caribou Barbie. I guess Reality Show Barbie is now the official celebrity Cheerleader Sneerleader Barbie!

The Christian Right Stuff

From CBN News:

Sarah Palin spoke with Focus on the Family Founder James Dobson today on the radio. There was a lot of love in the room flowing both ways.

…snip…

At one point she says the following:

“It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated and I can feel it too Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation and I so appreciate it.”

Shopping: The Captain Underpants campaign embraces yet another Bush administration strategery!

From the New York Daily News:

WASHINGTON – Lipstick isn’t the only difference between America’s top hockey mom and a pit bull.

Sarah Palin also has a spectacular new wardrobe, and Republican campaign donors picked up the breathtaking tab.

The Republican National Committee spent $150,000 on clothing and accessories for the vice presidential candidate and her family since early September, according to a report by the Politico Web site.

Hey, kids! $150,000 is the equivalent of 375 John Edwards haircuts! 😀

Bachmann and Robin

From Politico:

Rep. Michele Bachmann’s call for a media investigation into “anti-American” members of Congress may have been the macaca — or McCarthy — moment of 2008, but it has also given the Minnesota Republican something she’s been angling for since arriving in Congress two years ago: the national spotlight.

…snip…

“I think that she’s a media hound first and foremost,” said [a Minnesota GOP operative close to Bachmann]. “That has been her biggest goal from Day One: to be in the media spotlight, to be a representative who is the spokesman for the Republican Party — and she’s made that a very concerted effort, to be in the spotlight as much as possible.

…snip…

It was this willingness that found Bachmann on “Hardball” with Chris Matthews on Friday. As Matthews explained it to Politico, one of his bookers called John McCain’s presidential campaign early in the day for help in filling a hard-to-book Friday afternoon slot.

The campaign, Matthews said, suggested the ever-willing Bachmann.

I’t Getting Ruff Out There!

(CNN) — Sen. John McCain said Sunday he’s “very happy” with the way his campaign is going, despite his “underdog” status in the polls.

“We’re going to be in a tight race and we’re going to be up late on election night. That’s just — I’m confident of that. I’ve been in too many campaigns, my friend, not to sense that things are headed our way,” McCain said Sunday on Fox News.

Sen. Barack Obama leads McCain by 6 points, according to CNN’s latest average of national polls.

“I love being the underdog. You know, every time that I’ve gotten ahead, somehow I’ve messed it up,” the Republican candidate said.

He must be thrilled out of his mind!! Here’s the very happy underdog at a rally with some of his supporters, who look pretty darned ecstatic, too!

Femininnies

From Marc Ambinder at the Atlantic:

The McCain campaign has broken through a heretofore impenetrable barrier in quantum physics, experimentally proving the existence of unseen dimensions and, in the process, setting three of its surrogates on a pathway towards winning the 2009 Nobel Prize in the physical sciences.

Gov. Sarah Palin, campaigning, she said, in “real America,” which apparently includes part of North Carolina, Rep. Michelle Bachmann, calling for a media investigation to determine whether Americans are real or not, and today, McCain all-around best surrogate Nancy Pfotenhauer (pronounced — Foe-Ten-How-er, like proton power), said that parts of the state of Virginia, heretofore universally assumed to be in America, were not, in fact, in the country.
