Princess and the Pea-Brains

(CNN) – Rick Davis, the campaign manager for former John McCain’s White House bid, came to Sarah Palin’s defense in an upcoming interview with the National Review, saying the now-infamous $150,000 clothing tab for the Alaska governor was caused by a “failure of management.”

Biden Time With the Cheneys

From Politico:

Following Barack Obama’s historic visit to the White House on Monday, Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, met with Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, on Thursday at the official vice-presidential residence, a 19th-century Victorian home on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Hey, the Banks Have a New Xmas Club, and They’re All Members!

There will be no worries about regifting in the financial sector this year! Just in time for Christmas, Santa Paulson has presents for banks, no matter if they have been naughty or nice! From The Washington Post:

The financial world was fixated on Capitol Hill as Congress battled over the Bush administration’s request for a $700 billion bailout of the banking industry. In the midst of this late-September drama, the Treasury Department issued a five-sentence notice that attracted almost no public attention.

But corporate tax lawyers quickly realized the enormous implications of the document: Administration officials had just given American banks a windfall of as much as $140 billion.

…snip…

The story of the obscure provision underscores what critics in Congress, academia and the legal profession warn are the dangers of the broad authority being exercised by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. in addressing the financial crisis. Lawmakers are now looking at whether the new notice was introduced to benefit specific banks, as well as whether it inappropriately accelerated bank takeovers.

They’re a page right out of history!

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Watching CNN’s Cafferty File, we learn that the collision of the Bush family and the Obama famly at the White House today was something like “the Flintstones meet the Jetsons.”

Close, but no cigar! You see, kids, I have photographic proof that Grumpy Jack was only half right. Here’s are Chimpy and Pickles greeting Michelle and Barack Obama in front of the White House.

Just Like Dr. Pepper, So Misunderstood: Battle Royale!

Kids, in Part I and Part II of this series, we explored the actions of Princess Sarah, before, during, and after her bid for for the vice-presidency.
From Top News:

Even though reports of agitation between the McCain and Palin camps bubbled up in the final weeks of the campaign, as Barack Obama began pulling away and the GOP duo was unable to regain the momentum, when the defeated team of McCain and Palin split up in Arizona on Wednesday, the personal differences were starkly visible.

Various press accounts suggest that Palin rubbed many of the McCain aides the wrong way. The most recent one, according to published reports, was the election night incident when Palin irked McCain aides saying she wished to make her own concession speech, other than McCain’s.

Just Like Dr. Pepper, So Misunderstood! Part II

Continuing our look at the Dr. Pepper/Princess ad campaign.

Kids, I thought we would take a few moments and remember some of the highlights of Princess Sarah’s run for the veep job. Let’s start at the beginning, the reason she was picked. From The National:

Phoenix // Some say John McCain had the decks stacked against him. Others say he ran an erratic campaign. Many believe the Republican Party has simply lost touch with moderate Americans.

A day after Barack Obama and the Democratic Party gave the Republicans an ample drubbing, winning the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress, Republicans were picking up the pieces, trying to figure out what went wrong and where to go from here.

…snip…

Political scientists said the ordinarily moderate Mr McCain had pandered too heavily to the religious right, reversing his earlier positions on ethical issues such as abortion and choosing Sarah Palin, a Pentecostal Christian, as his running mate.
