Ladies and Gentlemen, We Have a Weiner!

From the Telegraph:

Michael Savage, the American radio presenter, has branded Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, a “witch” after he was included on a list of foreigners banned from Britain.

The “shock jock” threatened to sue Miss Smith, claiming that he had been defamed by the list, which ranked him “in the same league as mass murderers”.

The Home Office’s “least wanted” list of 22 people banned from the country also including extremists, white supremacists and Islamic fanatics.

Savage, whose real name is Michael Weiner, was included for “engaging in unacceptable behaviour” by seeking to provoke violence and foster hatred.

The DJ, who hosts a far right talk show called The Savage Nation, has described the Koran, the Islamic holy book, as a “book of hate” and questioned the validity of autism, though he has argued some comments have been taken out of context.

Speaking on his show, the 67-year-old said he was “shocked” and outraged to be named on the list, and that his life was now in danger as a result.

Justifying his inclusion on the list, Miss Smith said that the radio host was “someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause intercommunity tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country”.

Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, said: “There will have been specific decisions made by the Home Office based on the evidence that they have.

“Our general position is that we do want to make a distinction between reasonable and moderate debate and actions that deliberately set out to create tensions.”

[Weiner] called for his 8-10 million listeners to “cancel trips to England”, adding: “I suggest you stop buying English made goods, I don’t know what they make any more but whatever they make I suggest you don’t buy any more.

The media lawyer Mark Stephens, of the London law firm Finers Stephens Innocent, warned Mr Savage could receive as much as ยฃ200,000 in damages if he won.

He added: “He would seem to have a very good case. The people on the list who have been banned are supposed to be advocating extreme violence and so to put him into that category is clearly defamatory.

“His views, such as those on homosexuals, may be offensive but that is another thing entirely. The Home Secretary appears not to have appreciated the difference between tolerance and defamation.”

Also “named and shamed” are American Baptist pastor Fred Waldron Phelps Snr and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper, who have picketed the funerals of Aids victims and claimed the deaths of US soldiers are a punishment for US tolerance of homosexuality.

From the Guardian:

Shock-jock Michael Savage in his own words

In 2003, a caller, who turned out to be a prankster, insulted Savage’s teeth. Savage asked whether the caller was a “sodomite”. When he replied yes, Savage (who was later fired by MSNBC) said: “Oh, so you’re one of those sodomites. You should only get Aids and die, you pig; how’s that?[…]”

On students fasting in favour of immigration reform

“I would say, let them fast until they starve to death; then that solves the problem”

On Muslims

Followers of Islam would do well to “take your religion and shove it up your behind” because “I’m sick of you.”

He also said Muslims “need deportation” and “The Qur’an is a document of slavery and chattel”

On homosexuality

“The gay and lesbian mafia wants our children. If it can win their souls and their minds, it knows their bodies will follow. Of course, it wants to homosexualise the whole country, not just the children. This is all part of the war that is going on. Maybe you don’t want to face up to it, but it’s a very real war. It’s being inflicted on the American people by the radical gay lobby, which is now everywhere”

From Media Matters (July 17, 2008):

On the July 16 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is “[a] fraud, a racket.” Savage went on to say, “I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they’re silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’ ” Savage concluded, “[I]f I behaved like a fool, my father called me a fool. And he said to me, ‘Don’t behave like a fool.’ The worst thing he said — ‘Don’t behave like a fool. Don’t be anybody’s dummy. Don’t sound like an idiot. Don’t act like a girl. Don’t cry.’ That’s what I was raised with. That’s what you should raise your children with. Stop with the sensitivity training. You’re turning your son into a girl, and you’re turning your nation into a nation of losers and beaten men. That’s why we have the politicians we have.”

Savage also stated: “[W]hy was there an asthma epidemic amongst minority children? Because I’ll tell you why: The children got extra welfare if they were disabled, and they got extra help in school. It was a money racket. Everyone went in and was told [fake cough], ‘When the nurse looks at you, you go [fake cough], “I don’t know, the dust got me.” ‘ See, everyone had asthma from the minority community.”

  1. jeb

Guess I’ll go by some Boddington’s and raise a glass this weekend.

  2. Cheerio & God save the Queen & all that.

    • on the rare occasions i think about the queen, i always think of jon stewart saying hellooo in that high pitched voice, and i start laughing. ๐Ÿ˜†

  3. Dusty

When this bag o’ batshit went after autism..I really wanted to take a baseball bat to his noggin. I am not a pacifist, so this is allowed in my world. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • he said that autistic kids are mostly brats who want attention. he said that because he wants attention. he is so past disgusting that i can’t even think of an adjective that is reprehensible enough to describe him. it’s one thing to say disparaging things about public figures you disagree with, but to say heinous things about disabled children is just beyond the pale. it’s no wonder britain doesn’t want him. hell would probably throw him out.

  4. My favorite Savage is Dan, not Michael. Weiner the homophobe can go suck on that!

  5. I saw the story on this and did have mixed feelings.

On the one hand, I wish that the Savage Weiner would go away. On the other hand, I’m glad that in this country, we have the protections of our free speech that the government can’t just take bigoted #$&^%^s off the radio with the sweep of a pen.

Not that I have any sympathy for Savage, of course. He’s been calling for the government to shoot people with whom he disagrees for years.

It’s just the principle, you know? He has the right to be a bigoted #*&^%%&*(, I just wish that radio station owners would quit giving him airtime.

    • wickle,
i completely agree with you. i despise this steaming pile of excrement, yet still think his right to free speech has to be protected. of course, weiner doesn’t feel that way. he thinks he’s the only one who should be allowed to say what he thinks.

  6. Savage was on NPR the other day crying about his persecution when a caller said “if you plugged in Jew or Christian into the places where Savage says Muslim he’d be off the air on a minute.” Savage accused the caller of being in a psychiatric hospital in Iowa and went on a rant telling the host he had more important things to do. Then go do them says Neil Conan and nitwit hung up. He even tried to suck up saying I’ll have a conversation with you Neil but not with this idiot… No go bro. Speaking of Foreign Secretaries, I kind of miss having a guy named Jack Straw in the seat. I was expelled from a pretty decent college partying to that song

    • isn’t it ironic how these morons on the radio and tv ramble on and on about how aggrieved they are? they bitch and moan about their own freedom of speech rights, but they screen their callers and cut them off in mid-sentence when they don’t like what they’re saying.

  7. Just take one look at this slob and listen to the way his father spoke to him and you’ll learn everything you need to know to figure him out.
He probably hates gays because none of them have ever considered him attractive enough to approach.
In fact, he should be the lesbian poster child. One look at him and it reaffirms my attraction to women.
As a sidenote, his son owns Rockstar energy drink, which reminds us all not to buy any of that shit.

  8. Wiener is my most hated hatemonger asswipe. I can’t believe he’s allowed on the airwaves. He should be glad THIS country lets him stay here.

    LOVE the poster as always.

Oh and it’s obvious that Weiner is a closeted, self-hating gay. Do you all know that the man was in with the hippie, liberal crowd back in the ’70’s and specifically, swam naked with Ginsberg. Yep, that’s right.

But then, aren’t the self-haters always the ones that insist on making everyone else’s lives as miserable as possible? Gah.

    • helen,
i agree 100%. i was telling karen above to google weiner’s name along with allen ginsberg. of course, he denies that those erotic letters to ginsberg were his, but the return address on them were his.

  9. Oh I knew about him skinny dipping with gay poet Alan Ginsberg, and those shame-filled types are the worst kinds of homophobes.
It must be hell waking up in that body with that hate filled mind. I think suicide would be his best career move.

  10. i remember when msnbc threw him off the air for saying –

“Oh, so you’re one of those sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig; how’s that? Why don’t you see if you can sue me, you pig? You got nothing better to do than to put me down, you piece of garbage? You got nothing to do today? Go eat a sausage, and choke on it.

i was there when it happened. it truly was a low point (then again hiring him was a low point). i cannot believe i am going to say this – but michael savage actually makes rush seem rational.

between cantor and savage — not a good day for the tribe

    • you have to give us all the gory details, dcAp. did he cry and whine or bluster and call people names?

does he still consider himself one of the tribe or does he just dust off his heritage when it comes in handy?
