Beauty is only skin-deep. Stupid’s to the bone!

From The Fix at The Washington Post:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin re-appeared on the national stage tonight, jumping to the defense of a beauty pageant contestant who has been at the center of a media feeding frenzy in recent days.

“The liberal onslaught of malicious attacks against [Miss California] Carrie Prejean for expressing her opinion is despicable,” said Palin in a statement.

Because a governor at a time of economic disaster has nothing better to worry about.

Original DVD cover.

Palin added that she spoke to Prejean soon after the beauty queen said publicly that she believed she had lost the Miss USA competition due to her answer to blogger — and contest judge — Perez Hilton that marriage is between a man and a woman.

“What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe — marriage is between a man and a woman,” Palin added. “Our Constitution protects us all — not just those who agree with the far left.”

Oh yeah, that Constitution protection of life, liberty, and the pursuit of a tiara!

Let’s end with some classic quotes from the beauty queens. First, Caitlin Upton, Miss South Carolina Teen 2007:

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to [find the U.S. on a map] because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our [children].

Okay, Carrie, it’s your turn!

I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman.

Marriage is good. There is something special about unions of husband and wife. Unless we bring men and women together, children will not have mothers and fathers.

I felt as though Satan was trying to tempt me in asking me this question [about same-sex marriage]. And then God was in my head and in my heart saying, “Do not compromise this. You need to stand up for me and you need to share with all these people . . . you need to witness to them and you need to show that you’re not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA.”

And now, Princess Sarah, soon-to-be author (’cause this stuff really needs to be written down!):

They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan.

Maybe Princess Sarah needs those maps Caitlin was talking about!

They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

Again, Princess, get a map!

I like being here because it seems like here and in our last rally too — other parts around this great Northwest — here in New Hampshire you just get it.

Map! Map, dammit!!

As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.

We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. … We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation.

There’s –of course –in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings, there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American.

As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?

Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending soldiers out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.

I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that.

Nucular.

Beautiful!

  1. nonnie — you are on a ROLL! — this was priceless — the quotes. and you know – the smartest one of them all is Miss South Carolina (and not Miss Lindsey)

i am still laughing my head off

    • dcAp,
i wasn’t going to bother with another miss california poster, because i don’t think she’s worth the time or effort. however, i was floored when princess sarah threw herself into the story. no matter what the issue, she has to insert herself. it’s not like alaska has any other problems to solve. maybe one day, princess can be donald trump’s celebrity apprentice.

you’re right, miss south carolina is the smartest of the bunch. (and you don’t know how close i came to making lindseypoo miss carolina. however, i already christened another worthy contestant with that title! 😉 )

  2. Had Jon Benet Ramsey made it past toddlerhood, I’m pretty sure her intellect would have “trumped” these bimbos.
    Wait.
Come to think of it, I think Jon Benet already had them beat. I don’t recall ever hearing her say anything as moronic as these Barbie Dulls.

    • the really sad thing, karen, is that these bimbos are what the rethugs and fundies think women should be like. they all ready to become faux news spokesmodels or hosts on one of the christian networks.

      • Nonnie, that’s so true.
The Stepford Wives movie was a hit partly because too many men would love a pretty, compliant puppet whose only mission is to serve them, and look good doing it.
Liars who say beauty pageants are empowering are full of it. Remember when someone asked Sarah Palin if she was a feminist and she said yes, then her handlers got hold of her and she took it back?
As for Prejean, I hope she and Michael Phelps get pulled over by the LAPD in a car full of dope smoke. Now that’s a mugshot I can’t wait to see!

        • karen,
beauty pageants are empowering only to those who might make money from them. they are demeaning and unnecessary. listen to carrie speak and tell me that it’s really a scholarship contest!

when she and phelps get pulled over, i hope the scenario you describe is how they are found, but with just one addition. i hope she’s face-down in his lap in the smoke-filled car.

  3. jeb

Princess had to speak up because she is qualified to translate for Carrie. That is, Princess is fluent in vapid airhead.

  4. I don’t have any words at the moment. I just came up from rolling on the floor and my stomach hurts from laughing so hard. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. I thought politics was show business for ugly people.

    • i think that’s backwards. it’s ugly business for show people.

      • *chuckle*

Speaking of show people in politics, do you have anything planned for your pretty boy governor and his upcoming primary battle against the almost as good looking Rubio for the Senate seat?

        • nothing yet, neon vincent. the fun hasn’t started yet. give it a few months. we already know the dirt that will be spread about charlie. it will be interesting to hear what they smear rubio with.

  6. The stupid! It HURTS!!

Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaa!

    And such as the I-rack.

  7. Great … yes, God really cares that a woman who glues a bikini to her butt and has breast implants stands up for Him!

As a Christian, I find this whole thing disgusting. Once upon a time, Christians used to think that beauty pageants were indecent. We’re supposed to want people to dress modestly, remember? That thing Jesus said about looking at women lustfully?

What, exactly, do you think the point of those topless shots, the bikini competition, or the implants were? Certainly not an anatomy textbook.

Sigh … sorry, I’m on a rant. I’ve sort of committed to ignoring this flake on my own blog, but maybe I need to throw away a post on her.

    The self-serving hypocrisy of:

You need to stand up for me and you need to share with all these people . . . you need to witness to them and you need to show that you’re not willing to compromise that for this title of Miss USA

That’s not actually witnessing, people! Witnessing is when you tell people about salvation and Jesus. But people who have married the Religious Right and the Political Right no longer see the difference.

Ahem … anyone else want the soap box? I’m done with it for now.

    • wickle,
i’m not a christian, but i hate beauty pageants simply because they are demeaning. they tell kids that you should be judged on what you look like, not on the things that you do. i think people make way too big a deal over nudity in this country. however, the hypocrisy of ms prejean is stunning. what’s even more stunning is the hypocrisy of those who have twisted themselves like pretzels to convince people that she is almost saintly in order to push their own political agenda. of course, there is also the hypocrisy of the entire pageant world. it’s not a scholarship program and it doesn’t exist to find some kind of good will ambassador, role model, or paragon of virtue or even beauty. it’s a collection of fake hair, fake boobs, no talent, and no appreciable intelligence. that goes for the planners, the judges, and the contestants. while i have been throwing mud at ms prejean, let me add that i think perez hilton is an idiot, too. i don’t think the question was a fair one, and his response was way over the top. of course, that’s his shtick. there really was no way to answer that question without pissing off a percentage of the population. yes, she did answer it stupidly, but would lying have been better? it was a silly question to ask at a beauty pageant. of course, the questions usually are stupid. i don’t think pageant winners should be political, and neither should the questions.

      • Exactly.

I hate beauty contests for exactly that reason.

Whatever Prejean might have for talents, she’s chosen instead to prance around on stage instead of using them.

And, yes, I loathe the hypocrisy among my brethren who are willing to overlook the fact because she said something almost coherent about gay marriage.

Maybe she can run away with Joe the Plumber and the rest of us can get back to our real lives.

        • 😆
i remarked somewhere that joe the plumber has outlived his usefulness now that he’s thrown the rethug party under the bus, and carrie might be the heir to the stoopit throne.

  8. hey, nonnie-nonnie! love it. but where’s michelle bachman, queen of the pod-people? hope you aren’t discriminating against aliens.

    • as far as i know, michele bachmann was never a contestant in a beauty contest. you know i don’t discriminate. i love including bachmann in posters. 😉

  9. Yo mamma

Looooooool! Lol lol lol lol lol lol!!! Hello HW report!!!
