If Sue ever said anything intelligent, it would be a Myrickle.

Republican members of the Congressional Anti-Terrorism Caucus said the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) have tried to plant “spies” within key national-security committees in order to shape legislative policy.

Reps. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.), John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), citing the book Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, called for the House sergeant at arms to investigate whether CAIR had been successful in placing interns on key panels. The lawmakers are specifically focused on the House Homeland Security Committee, Intelligence Committee and Judiciary Committee.

“If an organization is connected to or supports terrorists [and] is running influence operations or planting spies in key national security-related offices, I think this needs to be made known,” said Broun, who sits on the Homeland Security Committee. “So I join my colleagues here today in calling for action.”

But the Office of the House sergeant at arms said that it has received no such request from any of the four Republicans and declined to speculate on how a request of that nature would be addressed.

The book, which was written by P. David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry with a foreword by Myrick, is scheduled to be released on Thursday.

A representative of CAIR called the accusations unfounded and worried that they would tarnish the improving relations between Muslim and non-Muslim Americans.

“God forbid American Muslims take part in the political process and exercise their rights,” said Ibrahim Hooper, a CAIR spokesman, in a telephone interview.

While the Republicans said they did not know of specific legislation that CAIR had affected, Franks, a Judiciary Committee member, said he wouldn’t be surprised if it was trying to amend the Patriot Act.

The GOP accusations come as Congress is considering reauthorizing expiring provisions in the Patriot Act, which has been attacked by critics on both the left and the right.

The Republicans also called on the IRS to launch a full investigation into CAIR’s lobbying activities, “to judge if they are in violation of their federal nonprofit status.”

Hooper said that CAIR is in full federal compliance with its status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit group, and that the group devotes less in terms of resources than the maximum legal limit allowed.

Gaubatz, the co-author of Muslim Mafia, could not be reached at press time. On his website, daveg.us, he asks supporters for money to “legally destroy CAIR.”

“CAIR will use their routine and expected ‘smear’ campaign to discredit me,” Gaubatz wrote on Wednesday morning. “It will not work. I have one foot on CAIR. I tell the truth. They simply lie and we have the proof.

“Please support me in these eforts [sic] to help shut this terror supporting organization down. donate all weekend. We need to raise $25,000 to put more research in the field and to bring more intelligence agianst [sic] them … If you want to protect your children and America, then help me now.”

So lemme get this straight. The way to keep everyone safe from the scary Muslims is to give money to this asswipe who can’t spell or punctuate correctly?

[Myrick] said the Justice Department identified CAIR as an “un-indicted co-conspirator” in the Holy Land Foundation case in Dallas, which concluded with the sentencing of the two founders of the foundation to life in prison for funneling $12 million to Hamas, which the U.S. has labeled a terrorist organization.

“We need to know that information so that we can discern whether we want to take interns associated with that group into our office,” said Myrick.

Earlier this year, the FBI cut off communication with CAIR out of concern that the group had ties with Hamas.

Hooper said that CAIR welcomed the scrutiny from the Republican lawmakers and that he was disappointed to see them associate with Gaubatz, whom he called a “hate-monger.”

“It’s a shame to see elected officials take part in a smear campaign based on bigotry,” Hooper said.

OMG, I’ve been thinking of juxtaposing that “press conference/book promo presser” with the transcript from Monty Python and The Holy Grail “It’s a witch!” scene….cuz that’s the weight of the rational foundation of the accusation…that of a duck.

    I still might. 😉

Long before “Muslim Mafia” was published several members of Congress had warned of CAIR’s disturbing origins. One of the first consistent and fearless critics of CAIR has been Democrat Senator Charles Schumer who said: “We know [CAIR] has ties to terrorism…intimate links with Hamas.” Senator Schumer made these statements during a September 2003 Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security where the evidence against CAIR was laid out in detail. CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad was invited to testify at this gathering, but chose to avoid the meeting and instead submitted a crude and absurd written statement listing CAIR’s “accomplishments” and childishly attacking critics.

Senator Schumer continues to give unapologetic support in efforts to investigate and exclude CAIR from involvement in government programs, including “training” the FBI. In February of 2009, Senator Schumer joined Senators Kyl and Coburn in contacting the FBI to state their support for the FBI severing ties to CAIR saying “We certainly support that action…”

Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer has also called out CAIR. She recalled an award to CAIR’s Basim Elkarra when she researched and learned of his involvement with CAIR and CAIR’s ties to Hamas. In addition to recalling the award, Senator Boxer also told CAIR to remove her statement endorsing CAIR from their web site. CAIR blasted Senator Boxer saying her actions were rooted in “Islamophobia.” Senator Boxer made clear her feelings about CAIR when she said: “To praise [CAIR] because they haven’t been indicted is like somebody saying, ‘I’m not a crook'”

    • let me ask you something. how long did it take to write this book? was it churned out in a week? a month? if so, then it wasn’t very well researched or thought out. if it took longer, let’s say 6 months or a year, then why weren’t the authorities notified immediately, if the entire country was under threat (of coffee being made by muslims in the capitol building 😯 ). is it strictly a coincidence that the 4 louseketeers had a press conference days before the book is to be released? this is just bullshit. cair is the new acorn. the authors of the book are bigoted assholes, and the 4 louseketeers are bigger assholes for buying this shit and perpetuating it.

      • “cair is the new acorn.”

        Crap, beat me to it.

Maybe you can be an honest person and absorb the fact that there are Democrats that are, and have been for YEARS, asking the same questions and making the same investigation demands of CAIR as repugs. You can make a game of it for sure, but the fact remains that the FBI has straight up evidence that CAIR is a creation of Hamas, (Yup, Hamas is bad) and anyone associated with CAIR in the halls of our government is a security concern.

        “Buying into this shit?”

You don’t even have the GUTS to be honest and look into all the facts about CAIR.

Just attack the messenger. So brave. Bravo.

        • and maybe you can be honest and admit that this little circus was put on for no other reason than to promote that piece of crap book and to stir up some fear.

Four House Republicans on Wednesday called for an investigation into the Council on American Islamic Relations after discovering an internal memo noting the group’s strategy of placing Muslim interns in congressional offices, specifically on three committees — Homeland Security, Intelligence and the Judiciary — that preside over national security issues.

But the Intelligence Committee does not accept interns, and the Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees select candidates on a case-by-case basis with no preferential treatment given to any group, congressional aides told FoxNews.com.

The Homeland Security Committee, which was made permanent only four years ago, has not had any interns sponsored by CAIR in at least three years, an aide to the panel said, adding that he could not confirm whether a CAIR intern had ever assisted the panel. It’s also not clear whether any candidates sponsored by CAIR applied during that period, the aide added.

The Judiciary Committee has not had any CAIR interns since May, an aide said.

Committee aides told Foxnews.com that it is not common for religious or advocacy groups to sponsor interns. In general, candidates usually depend on recommendations from college professors and business professionals.

          that’s from FOX NEWS.

the article also says there still has not been a formal request for an investigation by the sergeant-at-arms or the justice department. there is a terrorist group infiltrating congress, and the louseketeers still haven’t made a formal request?

          • dre

You still haven’t responded to the fact that several prominent Democrats know of CAIR’s ties to Hamas and have asked the FBI to keep investigating. That includes the Democrat members of the Anti-Terrorism Caucus which has over 120 members and is co-chaired by 2 Democrats.

Keep deflecting, I that’s all you can do since the facts are, this is not a repug/dem issue – it’s an American issue.

Ugh, that must make your head ache.

The “louseketeers” are under no timetable. Seems to me like they may be making CAIR sweat it out. It took the FBI 15 years to take down the Holy Land Foundation.

            I can wait.

            • are there bad guys in cair? of course. there are bad guys in any organization. however, it’s pure idiocy to suggest that the american government is going to be taken over by interns working in some capitol offices, and it’s ridiculous that the 4 louseketeers don’t appear to know how their own committees select interns.

              • dre

                CAIR is not “any” organization.

                We’re not dealing with PETA.

This group was STARTED for Hamas by Hamas members for the support of Hamas.

Founder Omar Ahmad on FBI wiretaps spoke of starting an organization in the US for Hamas. He went on to say: “Registering an organization is easy. I can register 100 organizations in 100 cities in one day…”

He then said: “I mean, we don’t really have available people whom we could dedicate
for the work we want to hide…”

                Click to access Philly%20Meeting%207E.pdf

What work were these CAIR founders going to try to “hide”?

Answer? Work in support of Hamas.

CAIR was built on a foundation of religiously mandated fascism and death. They and anyone associated with CAIR have no business in our government.

And CAIR’s founders and many officers belong in jail.

                • cair is the worst organization that ever existed! is that what you want to hear? now explain to me where these 4 were during the bush administration, when dubya apparently was pallin’ around with terrorists? a guy from the chimpy administration is the one calling the 4 morons bigots.

                  • dre

“now explain to me where these 4 were during the bush administration”

Asleep, like you and most of America.

The idiots in the “chimpy administration” dropped the ball big time with CAIR and appointed CAIR stooges like the shill Suhail Khan to prominent positions.

Bush ignored the issue. Are you saying our President should do the same as Bush?

                    • the fbi cut ties with cair in february, 2009. gee, under whose watch would that be? 😕

                    • dre

“the fbi cut ties with cair in february, 2009. gee, under whose watch would that be?”

And we have dem/repb members of congress and the senate who want the rest of our governmental institutions to follow the FBI’s lead and route this foul Hamas entity – but you attack them because their repugs…. great move Einstein !

  3. Sue

Aaaaaaahhh you scared the shit outta me, I thought you were talking about me!!! YIKES!!!!! LOLOL!

  4. The Republicans want the IRS to investigate? LMAO. The IRS should launch full investigations into these religious groups who are funding the anti-gay marriage campaigns. A totally political thing and churches are throwing a ton of money at denying other people their rights.

This whole tarnishing of an entire people, where will it end? I sure as hell hope it doesn’t end where things like it usually do. That’s one path we do not want to go down.

    • how about the irs looking into the organization that fun the teabaggers and the anti-health care reform groups as well? i would love to have them take a peek at dick armey’s checkbook.

this is just the fear card being played over and over again, because the rethugs have nothing else.

  5. Another tidbit from “The Family”–Shadegg’s father was Barry Goldwater’s campaign manager for his first two senate campaigns and leader of the Draft Goldwater committee in 1964. Shadegg senior makes a couple of cameos during the parts about WWII and the early part of the Cold War. Yes, he’s another member of The Family back when it was “The Fellowship.” I haven’t found out yet if his son has followed in his father’s footsteps and joined The Family.

    • interesting. i wonder what stephanie miller might know about that. her father was goldwater’s running mate.

i wonder if the family is supposed to be the non-harvard skull & bones.

  6. Like Sue chimed in earlier, I thought for a second you were referring to her, man, I could give you stories…

    Just kidding, Sue…kinda.

    *laughs and runs away*

    • now, now kids! don’t make me separate you. after all, you have to work together to shovel out the poop that some of your commenters leave over at hell000000. i read every day, but i don’t comment, because i know i will be very, very rude to a couple of your visitors.

      • No harm in it, majority of them deserve it. Sue doesn’t mind, there’s just 1 particular commenter that seems to jump from stupid comment to stupid comment, that’s what irritates her. The exchanges are amusing and oddly enough, some good does come out of it.

        • i do enjoy reading the threads, especially when people call the imbecile names. she’s so ridiculously stupid that she keeps coming back for more. either that, or she’s the housewife version of stephen colbert doing his shtick!? 😕

  7. Conspiring to Islamize America ?

If anybody knows anything about America– it is that we don’t get along. You could not “ize” nationwide, anything.

A fine example is Congress. Blue Dogs, Rabid Red dogs, flat out insane raving lunatics.
A majority in each the House & Senate – and all they can do is brawl.

The only things they agree upon are war funding, and raises for themselves. Oh & taking huge sums of cash from special interest lobbies.

As for the Patriot Act– I wish they would just burn the damned thing. It is just another painful memory & failure of the Bush regime.
A dark & ugly chapter in American history.

Is this announcement a shameless book promotion????

    • fran,

did you watch tweety today? he drives me nuts sometimes, but there’s nobody better at ripping apart idiots using historical facts. watch this. he makes the same point you do, that the federal govt isn’t unified at all. i’ll let him explain. it was a thing of beauty to watch him rip apart another wingnut. i think he enjoys it, because this is the 4th one he’s chewed up and spit out in the last few days.

  8. writechic

Just a second glance, Nonnie. I have to compliment you on the way the light catches Sue’s turkey wattle. Breathtaking. 😉

  9. those 4 idiots have wet dreams over joseph mccarthy – especially shadegg – what as ass!
