While Rethuglican TV pundits try to make Palinade out of the lemons Princess Sarah threw them by resigning the governorship of Alaska, there were others who were most likely celebrating. Yeah, I’m talking about the 2012 presidential hopefuls. Good thing they still have the backroom at Denny’s they were partying in when John Ensign and Sparky Marky Mark Sanford put their political ambitions to bed right after they did the same to their mistresses .
(Reuters) – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said on Friday she will resign this month and will not run for re-election as governor amid speculation that she will seek the Republican party’s nomination for president in 2012.
Palin was Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s running mate in last year’s election and rallied the party’s conservative base.
Following is a list of Republicans seen as potential candidates for their party’s nomination in 2012.

(CBS) The tension between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and top McCain campaign aides in the closing days of last fall’s presidential campaign is elucidated in a profile in the new issue of Vanity Fair.
Internal campaign e-mails exchanged three weeks before Election Day offer a rare look at just how frustrated then Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had become with the manner in which top McCain campaign aides were handling her candidacy. The e-mails, obtained exclusively, also highlight the power struggle and thinly veiled acrimony that pervaded the relationship between Palin and the campaign’s chief strategist, Steve Schmidt.

THE HUFFINGTON POST:
Three Republican congressman have publicly chastised fellow Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for declaring that she would not fill our her census form.
“Boycotting the constitutionally mandated Census is illogical, illegal and not in the best interest of our country,” said Reps. Patrick McHenry (N.C.), Lynn Westmoreland (Ga.) and John Mica (Fla.), members of the Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census, and National Archives in a statement Wednesday.

As the World Turns Meet the Press, Lindseypoo Graham had this to say about Governor Sparky Marky Mark Sanford and “that whole sparking thing“:
I think if Mark can reconcile with Jenny, and that’s not going to be easy, that he can finish his last 18 months. He’s had a good reform agenda. And I do believe that if, if he can reconcile with his family and if he’s willing to try, that the people of South Carolina would be willing to give him a second chance.

From Courthouse News Service:
A federal judge sentenced convicted Wall Street swindler Bernard Madoff to 150 years in prison for orchestrating the largest and most sweeping Ponzi scheme in history. Scattered applause broke out in the crowded courtroom after the judge issued the maximum sentence to the disgraced 71-year-old.
U.S. District Judge Denny Chin rejected a request by Madoff’s lawyer for leniency and said he disagreed that victims of the scheme were seeking “mob vengeance.”
Chin called Madoff’s crimes “extraordinarily evil,” and said it “was not merely a bloodless crime that takes place on paper but one that takes a staggering human toll.” He said the maximum sentence was important for deterrence.

From The CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR:
A clearly emotional Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) of South Carolina Sunday invoked former President Clinton as a defense for why embattled Gov. Mark Sanford, also of South Carolina, should potentially be allowed to finish his term.
Senator Graham is the godfather of Governor Sanford’s fourth and youngest son, and he fielded questions about Sanford’s admitted infidelity with difficulty on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” In a contrite moment, he called the GOP “a party of sinners” – apparently referring to his own religious convictions, because he added that the same was true of “every other group in America.”
Of course, Lindseypoo still hasn’t spilled about his own sins, but one of them is wearing that dress. It makes his hips look big.

You know that I’ve been busy covering the breaking news from South Carolina, kids, but don’t think for a moment that I forgot about this trailer trash Marie Antoinette. Here’s Cynthia Davis in her own words:
While nobody is disputing the benefits of nutritious food, why the presumption that parents are not providing nutritious food for their children? Even if they are not, who created a new rule that says government must make up for any lack at home? The problem of childhood obesity has been cited as one of the most rapidly growing health problems in America. People who are struggling with lack of food usually do not have an obesity problem.

Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals?
Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break.
