From POLITICAL HOTSHEET at CBS NEWS:
An estimated 87,000 people attended a rally organized by talk-radio host and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.
The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance on aerial pictures it took over the rally, which stretched from in front of the Lincoln Memorial along the Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument. Beck and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke at the rally.
Beck, who predicted that at least 100,000 people would show up, opened his comments with a joke: “I have just gotten word from the media that there is over 1,000 people here today.”
AirPhotosLive.com gave its estimate a margin of error of 9,000, meaning between 78,000 and 96,000 people attended the rally. The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company estimated was the rally’s high point. Rally organizers had a permit for crowd of 300,000.
sorry so late, kids. had to make an unscheduled trip up to riviera beach.
Mocos! 😆 Saw a bit from Princess Sarah’s speech. Screechy as ever.
i didn’t watch or listen to any of it. they both make me physically ill.
did you like the booger? you know how i love to accessorize! 😆
My friend posted this on FB:
“… annoyed by all the toothless idiots in town for the Glenn Beck sideshow. Who is running our nation’s carnivals if you all are in D.C.?”
that’s not nice. i’m sure there were at least 3 or 4 teeth among the crowd. 😛
The meme for mallflop is now “whitestock.” I like it.
i saw that earlier. i like it, too.
The nerve of that bastard to do a speech on the same site MLK did, on the same date.
Beck is not worthy. He’s a snake oil salesman…
playing the god card.
Excerpts from a great article:
this is about “freedom.”
well, i’m certainly pro-freedom, and as far as i can tell, the anti-freedom crowd struggles to win votes on election day. but can they be a little more specific? how about the freedom for same-sex couples to get married? no, we’re told, not that kind of freedom.
this is about a fight for american “liberties.”
that sounds great, too. who’s against american “liberties”? but i’m still looking for some details. might this include law-abiding american muslims exercising their liberties and converting a closed-down clothing store into a community center? no, we’re told, not those kinds of liberties.
this is about giving americans who work hard and play by the rules more opportunities.
i’m all for that, too. but would these opportunities include the chance for hard-working americans to bring their kids to the doctor if they get sick, even if the family can’t afford insurance? no, we’re told, not those kinds of opportunities.
this is about the values of the founding fathers.
i’m a big fan of the framers’ generation, who created an extraordinary nation. but if we’re honoring their values, would this include their steadfast commitment to the separation of church and state? no, we’re told, not those values.

steve benen rocks!
Oh! Mad Kane wrote this limerick:
My Dream For Glenn Beck … And America
I have a dream that one day crazed liars like Glenn Beck will no longer pollute our television and radio waves and the Internet.
I have a dream that one day the American people will stop being suckered by deranged media personalities like Glenn Beck.
I have a dream that one day Glenn Beck will headline a rally like his “restore honor” to America rally scheduled on the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream Speech” … and nobody will show up.
My Dream For Glenn Beck … And America (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Oh, I have a dream for Glenn Beck:
That he’ll lose his unending blank check
To spread mad, evil lies
That are greeted as wise,
When they’re really insidious dreck.
i love it!!! 😀
Good post! Fox News estimated the crowd at – wait for it – 600 000! Now that they’ve given up the guise of ‘news’ and virtually admitted they’re an anti-government propaganda machine they’re just going for broke and their listeners love it.
Scratch the surface of the rally and things start to get scary. There is more than a whiff of fascist propaganda in the air; the vague concepts that are positive yet never defined or explained nor lived up to, the opposite speak and big lies, thr divisive tactics, I could go on on this for an essay. It’s a myth that Nazi Germany was secular; far from it, Hitler used religion to further his cause and it worked. Faith when misapplied and mixed with government, is a dangerous thing with no equal.
tan, everyone expected faux to inflate the numbers. batshit michele bachmann is saying that there were a million people! 😆 we know how reliable she is. i’ll take science any day. here’s how the count was done scientifically (it took a while and a few tries to work for me, so be patient).
I keep waiting for them to claim there were more people at an event than the possible number of atoms in the known universe.
When attendence claims require scientific notation to fit on a page, it’s….oh, I don’t know, Miller Time? Coffee enema time? Time to carpet bomb Roger Ayles’ palatial estate with lithium?
Time for freakin’ Timer?
owhole1, how nice to see you over here! 😀
if we’re still talking about michele bachmann, i think she should have a coffee enema. decaffeinated, of course. and then stick her ass out the door of a helicopter and fly it over roger ailes’s house as soon as it has its intended effect. 2 birds, 1 stone. 😉
Ew. I mean, genius, but….ew.
Heh-heh-heh: I think I’ve got the perfect number. Whatever the actual number of attendees, it’s always “one drillion.”
Kinda like the speed of light. Doesn’t matter how many there are, there’s always a drillion of ’em.
i can batshit bachmann’s eyes practically bugging out of her head as her numbers get bigger and bigger. a million, a drillion, a bazilliondrillion!! 😯
So wait— 87,000 Murkans equals 600,000 Murkans in FuxNoizia? There are 5.7 million Mormons in the U.S.— how many of ’em showed up to listen to the pod piper?
More people have attended Super Bowl XIV than attended BeckaCrapola. And they had teeth.
apparently, there are a lot of mormons who are not so crazy about glenn blechhh. i’ve just done some reading, and it appears that blechhh has chosen to model himself after a man named cleon skousen. here’s one of the articles. i was trying to pick out parts of it to post here, but you really have to read the whole thing. it’s like this character drew a blueprint for blechhh to follow. scary. the mormon church has distanced themselves from skousen. he was way too radical, even for conservatives.
the fux who watch fox just love their entertainment and they love to have their insanity reinforced – they dont care if it is news – just as long as it bashes muslims, liberals, gays, obama, feminists, poor people, immigrants — anyone not white and christian
seeing black people at the beck pretends he is elmer gantry rally was very saddening
the people who watch faux news and who listen to rushbo and blechhh and the rest of them are living in fear. i’m glad they’re really miserable.
Bwa ha ha! Brilliant!
I have to carefully moderate how often I look at pictures of Glenn Beck, because whenever I do, I want to slap him reeeeeeeeally hard right across his bratty-boy chops. If another human is in my proximity, I have to sit on my hands for a while …
Whiners have that effect on me …
i know how you feel, jaliya. i want to take glenn beck and throw him at rocks. over and over and over and over again….
LDS is keeping their distance. Wise move since the motivation he mentioned to convert was his girlfriend/fiance wouldn’t “put out” till he did. And reports coming in today from the more right wing holiness church types is that he is a fraud because he is a Mormon. Next he’ll try the old Oral trick that if he doesn’t get his way that god will “take him”. One can only hope. (Whew! Only took three hours to get caught up. Must visit dreamland. See ya tommorow!
if he wants to play the religion card, i say bring it on. i wonder how many of the beckerheads know that he’s actually mormon. i don’t think i’ve ever heard a snippet of him discussing his mormon faith. he always makes himself sound like a fundie christian.
I can only handle lonesome roads Beck for about 5 minutes before I have to change the channel just to come up for air. Usually after I change the channel I find myself repeating in my head “he didn’t just say that, did he? He couldn’t any more crazy, could he?” and then I change the channel back only for a moment to find Beck out-doing himself yet again. Racist loon!
hello saberrulzz,
welcome to the raisin! 😀
don’t punish yourself. just don’t watch faux news. 😉
