From The Caucus at The New York Times:
Representative John Boehner, who takes over as Speaker of the House in the 112th Congress, named his appointees to the important House Intelligence Committee on Friday. They will join Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan, who had already been named committee chairman.
Besides with Mr. Rogers, five other Republicans will be returning to the committee: Representative Mac Thornberry of Texas; Representative Sue Myrick of North Carolina, Representative Jeff Miller of Florida; Representative Mike Conaway of Texas and Representative Peter King of New York.
The new members are Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota; Representative Joe Heck of Nevada; Representative Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey; Representative Devin Nunes of California; Representative Tom Rooney of Florida and Representative Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia.

From Taylor Marsh at THE HUFFINGTON POST:
At the end of a defensive post about Sarah Palin’s hunting fiasco taped on her TLC show [Sarah Palin’s Alaska], the Wall Street Journal blog finally admits to a final insult out of the whole sorry spectacle:
“True enough. It was a young cow, something most hunters would have passed up, looking for a more impressive trophy.”
The caribou she shot was a young cow.
It’s not going to help Sarah’s image, which in the latest McClatchy-Marist polling has the Tea Party queen trailing the pack.
Ohhhh, those pesky Democwats! They weawy make me angwy! Continue reading
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) called Democrats’ push to force through an arms control treaty and an omnibus spending bill right before Christmas “sacrilegious,” and warned he’d draw the process out to wage his objections.
“We shouldn’t be jamming a major arms control treaty up against Christmas; it’s sacrilegious and disrespectful,” he told POLITICO. “What’s going on here is just wrong. This is the most sacred holiday for Christians. They did the same thing last year – they kept everybody here until [Christmas Eve] to force something down everybody’s throat. I think Americans are sick of this.”

Did you see this, kids? Governor
Droopy Dog Jan Brewer of Arizona posted it on her Facebook page to wish all her constituents a Merry Christmas. Well, all of them, except those awaiting transplants. Screw those Debbie Downers!
I don’t know why she has to roll up her sleeves in order to ring a bell, but that’s not what’s important at the moment. As you can see, there’s been a terrible mix-up, and someone on her staff used a picture of some
young attractive woman instead of the real hag with a face like a used teabag Governor Jan. Good thing I’m in a holiday mood and not holding any grudges. I’ve corrected the error.

From Jonathan Capehart at POST PARTISAN at The Washington Post:
One of the perks of being in the Fourth Estate is that sometimes you get the transcripts of news shows before they air. So it was with great delight that I read the “60 Minutes” interview with Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-Ohio). It read well, especially the stuff on how “dark skin” Boehner was as easily prone to crying as the Pillsbury Doughboy was prone to giggling when poked in the stomach. But, man, when I watched the interview, I kept thinking, “Dude, c’mon!”

This will be the last installment of the series, so let’s take a look at some of the comics and comic-related pix we haven’t seen before. One of the longest running comics is Dennis the Menace, and we have had a few different Dennises. There was Chimpy, with Deadeye Dick Cheney filling in for Mr. Wilson…

One of my favorite animated shows on television was King of the Hill. It took place in Texas, so it naturally reminded me of Chimpy. Since it’s the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court appointing Chimpy to the preznitcy, it’s fitting we begin with a picture of him (and even more fitting that it celebrates the end of his reign, knowing all the damage he did)…
