  1. Don’t let Bill’O read this, ya Secular Progressive Christmas Hater!

  2. I think we should hijack this Christmas Eve edition to detail the list of #GOP comedy nonnie is missing while enjoying family time. I will start.
    1. Gingrich and Perry failing to qualify for the ballot of VA GOP primary, VA being used by Newt as his “home” state.
    2. Gingrich altering his VA strategy calling for his followers to write-in his name
    3. Only to find out that VA #GOP process does not allow “write ins”
    hilarity ensues…
    /please continue :D/

  3. MERRY XMAS AND ALL THAT STUFF RIGHT BACK AT YA!

  4. Ok Epic, I’ll play ~ This story is a classic GOP comi-tragedy:

    The Kansas City Star reports:
Gov. Rick Perry is double-dipping, drawing retirement income from the state in addition to his salary as governor since late January, newly released records show.Perry’s move to begin drawing from his pension early this year while remaining governor, which his staff says is legal and consistent with state retirement rules, was unknown to the public until federal financial disclosures were made public on Friday. The national news media buzzed over Perry’s “retirement,” although his staff said he had not retired but had begun drawing his pension.
Perry said: “ERS (Employee Retirement System) called me and said, ‘Listen, you’re eligible to access your retirement now with your military time and your time and service, and I think you would be rather foolish to not access what you’ve earned.'”

“The governor’s gross annual salary is $150,000; his net salary is $133,000. The net monthly annuity check Perry started receiving Jan. 31 is $7,698. Combined, his net pay from the state is now more than $225,000 annually.
Anthony Gutierrez, spokesman for the Texas Democratic Party.”Somehow this Republican budget doesn’t have room to pay teachers but they can give Rick Perry a $100k pay raise.

But here is the best line:
If Perry wants retirement benefits he should do us all a favor and actually retire.

    • Sedate Me

I want to know how you can retire and collect your pension, not just below the age of retirement, but while you continue to “work” and collect a full pay-cheque. I’m sure millions of Americans want to know, so they can do it too.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Joyous Kwanzaa, Festive Yule, a great mid-winter time period, and whatever else I may have forgotten!
Or, as that old poem goes, To all, a good … night, day, whatever time it is where you are.
(Yeah, I was never good at quoting poetry! πŸ˜€ )

    Happy Chanukah nonnie! πŸ™‚

I put Christmas lights in this small hemlock tree in front of my house five or ten years ago or so. The lights are the kind we used to have growing up, the deep solid colored ones;red, green, blue, orange, white, no twinkling, no flashing on and off or any of that darn tootin modern foolishness. Each year I figure they are shot what with being outside for the past 365 days and getting hit with the weed whacker and pulled by the tree branches as it grows…and each year they light up again! They have become a metaphor for my hopes and efforts toward building a safe and sane future for all of our children and the children that come after them. That dream gets battered and pulled and dragged in the dirt but it goes on…

  19. Oh my my …. you’re the normal sister … wow! πŸ™‚

Thanks for the greetings! If you get a chance, you get a gift from under my tree. http://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2011/12/24/on-a-time-for-gifts/

Plus, I had mentioned you here.
    http://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2011/12/20/on-time-for-a-light/

Glad to hear all is well. Enjoy your time!

  20. Wesolych Swiat Nonnie…whichever “Swieta” they may be. I don’t like waging war on any holiday, they are too much fun!

As far as our list of GOP pratfalls…Ron Paul’s old racist tracts are sad rather than hilarious. Still, there goes another clown candidate.

  21. I knew you had to be somewhere. You deserve a break from working almost every single day for five years. And Happy New Year!

  22. Missed you, too, and glad to see you pop in for a visit. Looking forward to your return.

  23. SaberRulzz

Hope your Holidays are going great! Look forward to your 2012 HYSTERICAL RAISIN posters! Greetings and Happy New Years!!!

  26. Friend of the court

happy new year, nonnie. during what week?

  27. Happy past Chanukah and New Year Nonnie! Missed you expecially today when M. Bachmannan stepped out of the race. I can’t imagine what type of art work would have sprung from your being on that one.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Mine was fab (probably gained 10 pounds) right up until I hit the deck with some kind of plague that brought me to my knees: I have no strength and no ability to function (got it from the grandkid). Right now I’m crawling from couch to bed sick as a dog hoping I can pull my foggy thoughts together to post a blog (due date on Thursday). If you’ve ever wondered what the bubonic plague felt like, I’ve got a pretty good assessment. In the black community, whatever you’re doing on the first of the year you’ll be doing all year long–oh God, I’m screwed! Cheers!.

  28. πŸ˜€ Hope your holidays rocked, Nonnie! πŸ˜€

  29. Sedate Me

    Bah humbug!!!

(As if anybody would expect me to say anything else.)

  30. Come back, we need you!!! (I know what happens when long time friends disappear: you have a new boyfriend!)

    • jeb

Hear Hear! I was just about to post the exact same comment although I hadn’t thought of the romance angle? Nonnie, are you cheating on us???

  31. Barbara

Hello Raisinettes.. This is nonnie’s crazy sister as I’ve been labeled. Just wanted to drop in and let you all know that my sister is fine, unfortunately I cannot say the same for her computer.. She should be up and running by next week (hopefully). She asked me to send you this message “muahhhhhhhh”

    • John Erickson

Please let Nonnie know (and by reading this, I’m letting everyone else out here know) that I’m still alive, sort of. I’ve been missing in action for a few weeks – the PC is fine, it’s me that’s suffering from viruses and what-not.
      Thanks! πŸ™‚

      • elizabeth3hersh

Sorry to hear you are under the weather John. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

        • John Erickson

Thanks, Elizabeth. I’m feeling a bit better – until I look at the 400+ Emails I have to wade through! Oof! πŸ˜€

        • Sedate Me

Hey, Elizabeth. Not that I have to ask, but how did you enjoy your -uh- “Christmas present” I was miraculously able to deliver you this year? Well worth the wait -eh? πŸ˜‰

          • elizabeth3hersh

You are the consummate tease Sedate Me. Always a pleasure.

            • Sedate Me

What do you mean “tease”? I hitched a ride with the jolly fat man, wiggled down the chimney and I delivered! Don’t you remember? You damn near shattered the windows with all that hollering. You couldn’t possibly not remember…unless. Uh-oh.

It was pitch black, I was loaded drunk and I’ve never been in your neck of the woods before. Maybe I got the wrong chimney. You should check & see if one of your neighbours is in a much better mood than usual. Oh shit, I hope it wasn’t just the wrong room. That’s probably a more awkward goof. Then again, I was informed I was on one of their lists too.

Either way, I’m really sorry and hope to get it right should there be a next time.

              • elizabeth3hersh

That was YOU Sedate Me? How could I forget the strategically placed bobbing Santa hat as you made your way into my lair? In case you did make it to my neighbors too, I was the one with the latke pasties and sufganiyot G-string. A memorable time SM!! Not soon to be forgotten!!

Forgive me nonnie. I just couldn’t resist.

    • Friend of the court

pleased to meet you, Barbara. thank you for the update. i have been looking everywhere.

  32. HOPE THE COMPUTER GETS UP & RUNNING, I’M STARTING TO HAVE RAISINETTE WITHDRAWLS.
NEED THE NONNIE HUMOR TO BALANCE OUT THE GOP PRIMARY CRAZINESS.

  33. Ben Foxworth

Please come back soon, nonnie! You are seriously missed!

    BeninSC

  34. Last. Ha! now you must come back. (please).

  35. OK…. WHAT’S GOING ON? This is getting silly….. and there is so much repubolicanism to photo shop…… hmmmmmm

  36. Waiting patiently (sort of) for hazzing Raisins again. Seriously. Really.

  37. jeb

Yes FOTC. It’s also a dos command we used to use in the pre-plug and play days to find devices on the network. Either way, things have been awfully quiet here so just thought I’d drop by and see if there was a response.

    Where’s Nonnie?

  38. Nonnie: Ditto to all the other Raisinette’s “yearning for your return” comments. Trying to be patient. . .not doing very well. <)
