Herman Cain, What a Doll!

This is what happens when you make a comment around me.  This is the thread over at the Big Orange that started it all. Eventually, Jeff Y declared that  Herb Herman Koch Cain is:

The black Caribou Barbie

Of course, that reminded me of this old poster:
cariboubarbiead2
And that got me thinking that Herb Hermie deserved his own action figure.  Maybe he and Princess Sarah Palin will be hosting a show togther over at Faux News one day, and we don’t want Caribou Barbie’s doll to be lonely.

End of the Innocence

Mittsie’s Moronism

Hey, kids, I was out spending a lot of money on new appliances, and I wasn’t able to do a new poster.  However, I read this at AMERICA blog by John Aravosis:

Mitt Romney can’t have it both ways. Either a person’s religion is relevant or it’s not. But Romney can’t say, as he did during the 2008 elections, that he wouldn’t choose a Muslim as a cabinet secretary, and then turn around and say please don’t discuss whether we should chose a Mormon as president. Either a person’s religion is relevant or its not. And Romney clearly thinks it is relevant when the religion is Islam. So why isn’t it relevant when it’s Mormonism?

That reminded me of an old quote of Mittsie’s from back in 2007:

Freedom requires religion, just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone.

I’m confused.  Is bigotry is bad, but only when it’s aimed at Mormon’s?

Putting the Ass in HarASSment

From Dave Wiegel at SLATE:

There are two contradictory rules in politics about how to handle an opponent’s embarrassing scandal.

Door Number One: Pile on. The guy’s not “under fire” unless there are flames on him. In the words of James Carville, “if he’s drowning, toss the sonuvabitch an anvil.”

Door Number Two: Back away. The guy’s on fire: You don’t want to get singed!

The choice that Cain’s opponents are making tells us a lot about how he can move past this. They’re all picking Door Number Two. Rick Santorum, in Iowa, isn’t talking about it. Ron Paul is explicitly saying he won’t go after Cain’s “character.” The Perry and Romney campaigns merely deny that the story came from them.

So who outed Herb Herman Cain?

Hollow Weenies

From Newsweek/THE DAILY BEAST:

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the Republican leadership’s tether to the Tea Party, flutters the hearts of the government-bashing, budget-slicing faithful with his relentless attacks on runaway federal spending. To Cantor, an $8 billion high-speed rail connecting Las Vegas to Disneyland is wasteful “pork-barrel spending.” The Virginia Republican set up the “You Cut” Web site to demonstrate how easy it is to slash government programs. And he made the Department of Housing and Urban Development the poster child for waste when he disclosed that the agency was paying for housing for Ph.D.s.

But away from the cameras, Cantor sometimes pulls right up to the spending trough, including the very stimulus law he panned in public. Letters obtained by Newsweek show him pressing the Transportation Department to spend nearly $3 billion in stimulus money on a high-speed-rail project—not the one he derided in Nevada, but another in his home state. “Virginia … will demonstrate that this historic investment in rail will create jobs, reduce congestion, spur economic growth and improve our environment,” says a letter he signed with other Virginia members in October 2009, cribbing President Obama’s own argument for the stimulus.

Discarding the Soggy Teabag

From political ticker at CNN:

Michele Bachmann accused Rick Perry’s presidential campaign Friday of a “stealth” political attack – a charge the Texas governor’s campaign flat out denied. “If Gov. Perry has something to say to me, he can come out to the debates and say it,” Bachmann said in an interview with CNN. “But this is egg on the face unfortunately for the Perry campaign.”

At issue: tea party sponsor American Majority’s urging for Bachmann to drop out of the presidential race.
