Declaration of Incoherence

For 29 years, National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” has celebrated the Fourth of July with a reading of the Declaration of Independence by hosts, reporters, newscasters and commentators.

This testament to the nation’s founding document has previously proved uncontroversial. But that changed in the year 2017.

After NPR tweeted the accompanying text of the declaration line by line, Donald Trump backers (seemingly unaware of the source document) accused the media organization of playing partisan politics and attacking the president.

“So, NPR is calling for a revolution,” Twitter user @JustEsrafel wrote.

“Propaganda is that all you know?” another asked.

Some even taunted NPR over Trump’s budget proposal, which slashes endowments for the arts and humanities, insisting the media organization should lose federal funding for its allegedly subversive rhetoric.

You can read the tweets from these patriots at the RAW STORY link above. But wait, kids, there’s more! You can see more of the tweets at HuffPo and other places where the geniuses call the Declaration of Independence trash and an implied threat to their dear leader Twitler. Themost hilarious thing, though, can be found over at Daily Kos. There is one particular Twitter user named Darren Mills. Here’s how he describes himself in his profile:

Libertarian. Christian. Ex-writer for big news. Blackballed media journalist thanks to left wing/feminist job lynch mob.

So, anyhoo, Darren tweeted about how NPR is going to be defunded because they posted “this trash.” He doesn’t want “to be exposed to this STUPIDITY.” He used the hashtag#DefundNPR. Hilariously, another Tweeter trolled him by making a donation to NPR in his name! In response, Darren threatened to call his lawyer. He warned that nobody had better donate to NPR in his name again! Of course, someone did exactly that and added an address for Darren: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. Darren, the genius that he is, did not recognize the address. Other tweets followed with donations (all made in his name) to a public radio station, the League of Women Voters and a charity that supplies clean drinking water. If you go to his page, you will see donations to Emily’s List (Darren isn’t sure what that is either), Black Lives Matter, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (he yelled they will never take his guns!!!), San Diego Advocates for Social Justice (Darren doesn’t like social justice) and a bunch of other charities that take up liberal causes. The most hilarious, however, were the donations to Planned Parenthood.

We find these truths to be self-evident: that Twitler supporters are created stupid!

‘Christian libertarian’, eh? So that’s how they get around those pesky 10 command- er, ‘suggestions’. 😉

  3. Lord have mercy, His supporters are unhinged just like Model T. I can hardy believe the bigotry and hate that is coming from Model T’s supporters. How can folks be so biased and ill informed about the Declaration of Independence? It boggles my mind. And them attacking NPR. That is the 9th degree.

  4. the loony tic

your poster (as usual) is hilarious, i love all the details, and the story on darren mills is hilarious. as much as we all agonize over the reality of twitler, he has created a lode of great comic relief! at first, i thought that was putin looking in the window. lol!

    • Darren Mills’s twitter feed is hilarious! The more he protests that the damn libruls stop making donations in his name, the more creative they get in their donations and tweets. 😆
