Drowning in Disgust

From NEWSWEEK:

President Trump’s former ethics chief said the president’s decision to show off a $40 Trump campaign merchandise baseball cap on a visit to storm-struck Texas raises ethics concerns.

The president was pictured wearing the Official USA 45th Presidential Hats in two pictures released by the White House over the weekend, and in TV footage of an official visit to the state Tuesday. Both hats, described as “Proudly Made in the USA,” are sold as merchandise via the Trump campaign website.

The water is deep. The bullshit is deeper.

From THE TEXAS TRIBUNE:

Many New Yorkers and New Jerseyans serving in Congress have, for nearly five years now, kept a list of names handy to roll out at a moment’s notice. They call it “the Comeuppance Caucus.”

For some, the list is on a physical paper or bookmarked on a computer. For others, it’s merely tattooed into their brains. It consists of which colleagues voted against Hurricane Sandy funding back in 2013, and it’s chock full of Texas Republicans.

In fact, nearly every Texas Republican who was serving in Congress at the time voted against the $50.5 billion aid bill. And now their own constituents are facing the biggest natural disaster in state history.

Felix the Rat

From the Chicago Tribune:

While Donald Trump was running for president in late 2015 and early 2016, his company was pursuing a plan to develop a massive Trump Tower in Moscow, according to several people familiar with the proposal and new records reviewed by Trump Organization lawyers.

As part of the discussions, a Russian-born real estate developer urged Trump to come to Moscow to tout the proposal and suggested that he could get President Vladimir Putin to say “great things” about Trump, according to several people who have been briefed on his correspondence.

War of Words? No, War of Turds

From Bloomberg Politics:

Stephen Bannon said in his first public remarks since his ouster from White House role as chief strategist that he will be “going to war” for President Donald Trump, warning that he will continue to press the populist cause against the political and corporate establishment.

Kids, whatever happens, just remember that Steve Bannon didn’t ride in on his high horse;  the drunken pile of offal rode in on a Rethuglican elephant! He’s one of their own, so when the clowns Alt-right puts up their statue of their war hero, they need to get it alt-right.

Battle Him for the Republic

From  REUBEN BRIGETY at FOREIGN POLICY:

The late U.S. Poet Laureate Dr. Maya Angelou once said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them!”

In other words, no one can hide his true nature. Never has this been more accurate for an American president than in the case of Donald Trump. Events in the aftermath of the violence in Charlottesville have made this abundantly clear. For the first time in our history, a Nazi sympathizer occupies the Oval Office.

…snip…

As a former U.S. ambassador and senior State Department official, I know that there is a particular obligation by political appointees not only to represent the interests of the American people but also to ensure that the policies and perspectives of the elected government of the day are implemented.

Waffle Louse

REPORTER:  “Do you agree with the President that there were good people among the white supremacist protesters and that there was blame to be had on both sides? And, more broadly, sir, do you believe that Confederate statues should be removed as is happening in many cities across the South, or do you agree with the President that the Confederate General Robert E. Lee should be considered in the same pantheon as George Washington? :

MIKE PENCE:  “What happened in Charlottesville was a tragedy, and the president has been clear on this tragedy and so have I. I spoke at length about this heartbreaking situation on Sunday night in Colombia, and I stand with the president and I stand by those words.”

We might have to change Walking Bowl of Cream of Wheat to Pence-ildick.

Stand by your man

So, I am sure that all you kids saw the abomination of a press conference today at Twitler Tower. There is plenty of consternation across the board for the asshole-in-chief, but I have noticed that there is a severe lack of condemnation for those who support him and those who were literally standing by him.

Side Effects

From ShareBlue:

Mike Pence continued his attempt to cover up for Donald Trump’s refusal to directly rebuke racial terrorism committed in his name, but when challenged by a reporter on his claim that Trump had forcefully spoken out, he instead complained about “many in the media.”

Trump has refused to call out the white supremacists and Nazis who rioted in Charlottesville, Virginia, and who killed a young woman. Instead he referred to “many sides” being involved in the case.

Maybe instead of complaining about “many in the media,” Pence should complain about Nazis and alt-right white supremacists like Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, et al who swarm all over the West Wing.
