You better watch out, we know that you lie, you sold voters out, and people will die

From Jennifer Rubin at the Right Turn at The Washington Post:

By my count, six Republicans in districts that voted for Hillary Clinton voted in favor of the American Health Care Act in committee before they had the Congressional Budget Office scoring. These were: Reps. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), Mimi Walters (R-Calif.)Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.), Ryan Costello (R-Pa.) and Leonard Lance (R-N.J.). […] In some cases Clinton won by big margins in these Republicans’ districts. (In Curbelo’s district, she won by more than 16 points; in Paulsen’s by 9.5 points.) One supposes Democrats will put these members at or near the top of their list of incumbent targets in 2018.

Hey, as long as we’ve got the bus, might as well throw a few million people under it!

From THINK PROGRESS:

In the hours leading up to the House vote on the American Health Care Act (AHCA), Republicans prepared for victory in their push to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Price is Far Right, but All Wrong

From Los Angeles Daily News:

The White House and Republican leaders in Congress scrambled on Tuesday to shore up support for their health care bill as critics went on the attack over new estimates [from the Congressional Budget Office] that 14 million people would lose insurance coverage in the first year alone.

…snip…

With Washington blanketed in a rare March snow, congressional GOP leaders and top aides to President Donald Trump got to work trying to salvage the legislation, which they hope to push through the House next week and the Senate the week after that. Trump has promised to sign the bill, fulfilling seven years of GOP promises to undo “Obamacare,” even though the legislation breaks the president’s own past promises to safeguard Medicaid and provide health insurance for all.

I Feel Sick Already

From THE HILL:

House Republicans are taking fire from all sides as they seek to push through their plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare, known as the American Health Care Act (AHCA).

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has guaranteed the bill will pass Congress, but it won’t be a smooth ride to President Trump’s desk.

It’s all about the marketing, right? So I have taken the liberty of redesigning the GOP AHCA.

The Price Is Wrong

From Steve Benen at The Maddow Blog at MSNBC:

The reason there’s so much interest in who Donald Trump will choose for various positions in his administration is a simple principle: personnel is policy. We want to know what the Trump/Pence administration will do once it’s in power, so we keep an eye on his cabinet and White House selections to get a sense of the next White House’s substantive agenda.

And when it comes to health care, the president-elect apparently intends to go in a very dangerous direction.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will nominate Georgia Rep. Tom Price to head the Department of Health and Human Services.

Bunions Might Not Be Covered

From The New York Times:

WASHINGTON — Congress has yet to settle its first budget fight of the year but is already about to move on to an even more consequential fiscal clash.

Even as the two parties struggled over the weekend to reach a deal on federal spending for the next six months and avert a government shutdown at the end of the week, House Republicans were completing a budget proposal for next year and beyond. It is likely to spur an ideological showdown over the size of government and the role of entitlement programs like Medicaid and Medicare.

The plan, which is scheduled to be unveiled Tuesday, will be the most ambitious Republican effort since the November elections to put a conservative stamp on economic and domestic policy.
