I wish Deadeye Dick a room filled with ottomans

From The Raw Story (April 15, 2009):

Richard Armitage, who was second in command at the State Department during former President George W. Bush’s first term, believes waterboarding is torture and says he would have resigned had he known the CIA was torturing suspects.

…snip…

The statement makes him one of the highest ranking former Bush administration officials to label the former president’s policy torture.

There’s not enough paper in the world….

(CNN) – Enemies of President Bush take heed: Karl Rove is set to name names.

The man widely credited with Bush’s two presidential victories says his new book will include an accounting of those in Washington who never accepted the president as a legitimate commander-in-chief.

Ooooh!!! I’m shaking! And I bet the other 60,000,000 people are shaking, too!

The Fall of Condi (and I don’t mean Autumn)

The New Statesman has a fascinating article which you kids simply must read. It is called The fall of Condi.

The US secretary of state was feted as “brilliant” and “gifted”, but her tenure is now acknowledged as a disastrous failure.
…snip…
Bush adopted Rice – black, and a woman – as a kind of mascot for his administration. He is genuinely fond of her, but that doesn’t mean he has ever paid any serious attention to what his inexperienced appointee has had to say. He always listened much more closely to hugely experienced Washington infighters such as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, both of whom considered foreign policy to be part of their portfolios. As national security adviser, Rice flailed around desperately in the middle, letting both men trample all over her, and took command of US foreign policy away from Colin Powell, theoretically Bush’s secretary of state, and his deputy, Richard Armitage. “The calamitous consequences [of this] are likely to be felt for years to come,” says Zbigniew Brzezinski, US national security adviser himself from 1977-81.

A Pig in the Pokey?

June 14 (Bloomberg) — Lewis “Scooter” Libby, an ex-aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, must go to prison while appealing his conviction for obstructing a CIA leak probe, a judge ruled.

Will Little Irving Scooter go to jail or stall until Chimpy pardons him on his last day in office remain free throughout the appeals process? We might not know for a while, but I assume that the uncertainty has Scooterpie pooping in his pants!
