WASHINGTON (CNN) — I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was disbarred from practicing law in the nation’s capital on Thursday.
The former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney was convicted last year of lying to a grand jury and federal agents probing the leak of the identity of a CIA operative, Valerie Plame Wilson.
“When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory,” the District of Columbia Court of Appeals wrote in its opinion, which is posted on its Web site.

From Raw Story:
After Fox News anchor Chris Wallace boasted of the cable network’s latest coup — securing paid political commentary from Karl Rove — in a Super Tuesday interview on the Daily Show, host Jon Stewart, demonstrating his trademark wit, quickly jumped on the absurdity of such a hire.
From The Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan blames President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for efforts to mislead the public about the role of White House aides in leaking the identity of a CIA operative.
From CNN International:
An emotional Karl Rove characterized his tenure in the White House as a “witness to history” as he announced his resignation as President Bush’s senior political adviser at the end of this month.
“It seems the right time to start thinking about the next chapter in our family’s life,” Rove said, his voice breaking. “It’s not been an easy decision.”
Is it true that money buys happiness? Apparently, the Bancroft family thinks so. From the Guardian:
It was a sad week, perhaps, for the Bancroft family – that paternal clan of old-time warriors who fought valiantly to maintain the independent integrity of the Wall Street Journal. Or did they?
A less sympathetic observer might suggest that the Bancrofts spent three months indulging in navel-gazing dithering over Rupert Murdoch’s $5.6bn offer for their family media vehicle before indulging in a venal lunge for cash at the flimsiest hint of an extra incentive.
Whatever you think of the Dirty Digger’s politics, you’ve got to hand it to Murdoch – his handling of the Dow Jones battle has shown business brilliance and he has left the Bancrofts looking more dysfunctional than the House of Windsor.
With Monica Goodling flapping her lips all over Capitol Hill, and Sara Taylor not zipping up her piehole in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee (despite a magical letter from White House counsel Fred Fielding that
excused her from gym for the rest of the school year asserted executive privilege), it isn’t surprising that Chimpy has said, “The hell with Laura and Barney, from now on, Harriet Miers is……..”

Move over Irving-Scooter-Libby-Commutationgate. Time to turn our attention back to Gonzogate once again!! You didn’t think we forgot ya, did ya, Al Fredo? Never!
Washington, D.C. (AHN) – U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy is poised to bring contempt charges against the White House, the Vice President’s office and the U.S. Department of Justice if they flout the subpoena that the Senate Judiciary Committee issued last week.
Leahy, a Vermont Democrat and chairman of the powerful committee, is leading the Senate investigation into the firings of eight U.S. attorneys, which critics say were politically motivated.
Speaking Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Leahy said, “They have taken the attitude at the, at the White House that somehow they’re above the law….That’s a Nixonian attitude, and it’s wrong.”
To the tune of She’s a Lady written by Paul Anka (Who knew?):
Well, we won’t be nonchalant,
These are not the guys we want, this bunch of losers,
So let’s put them in their place,
They’re a national disgrace, liars, abusers.
Patrick Leahy, whoa, whoa, whoa, Patrick Leahy,
All my hopes lie with Patrick Leahy, Patrick Leahy’s so fine.
