Just when you thought the Barr couldn’t get any lower

From Vox:

For anyone concerned that President Donald Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr are politicizing the criminal justice system, Friday afternoon has been a real roller coaster.

First, news broke that Justice Department prosecutors had closed one politically controversial case, a lengthy criminal investigation into former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, without bringing any charges. McCabe had been under scrutiny for potentially lying to internal investigators about his role in leaks concerning an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation — though many wondered whether the investigation was truly about pursuing someone President Trump had deemed an enemy.

Lordy, I hope there are tapes!

From the Op-Ed page of the TIMES of SAN DIEGO:

(Written by Colleen O’Connor, native San Diegan and a retired college professor)

Sen. Dianne Feinstein just called for a “word for word” transcript of the explosive whistleblower complaint against President Trump that led to the House impeachment inquiry.

As the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Feinstein believes that an “official word-for-word transcript of the call” between Trump and the President of the Ukraine was produced.

And she also doubts the accuracy of Trump’s report of the call.

A verbatim transcript (without the many ellipses found in the Trump version) is probably hidden inside the U.S. intelligence community’s “code-only,” restricted-access computer system.

Worst AG ever, Barr none

From Yahoo News:

Attorney General William Barr refused Wednesday to turn over his notes on a conversation he had with Robert Mueller during which the special counsel complained about Barr’s summary of his report about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and Donald Trump’s attempts to cover it up.

“No,” Barr responded when asked by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., if he would provide the Senate Judiciary Committee with the notes he took to document the call with Mueller.

“Why not?” Blumenthal responded.

“Why should you have them?” Barr answered.

The Beer Facts

You have to wonder what the FBI will be investigating now that Senator Jeff Flake had a moment of conscience or courage (or if he is playing a game like Susan Collins was when she voted Betsy Wetsy DeVos out of committee knowing she would have enough votes to be confirmed even though Susie voted against her. But I digress…). I’m hoping they look into his Georgetown Prep yearbook references.

When you are so sexist, you can’t be trusted to even talk to a woman

From THE CUT at NYMAG.com:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has a solution to the all-male judiciary committee that will preside over the Christine Blasey Ford hearing on Thursday. At a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, he revealed that he hired a “female assistant” to ask Ford questions about the sexual assault allegation she made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Recollect-shun

From THINK PROGRESS:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ memory seemed to lapse repeatedly when asked by lawmakers to recall details about a March 2016 meeting, where Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos reportedly proposed a meeting between then-candidate Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

Sessions, who was testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, said he had “no recollection” of the meeting until he saw news reports, which jogged his memory.

Bullshit Sessions & Sting Wray

From REUTERS:

President Donald Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., will testify privately to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday as it investigates allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

Trump Jr. had been invited to testify in public in a hearing in July, but reached an agreement to speak privately with committee staff.
