Great Candidate or the Greatest Candidate?

From the Los Angeles Times:

Stephen Colbert’s bid to formally join the presidential race in South Carolina was rejected Thursday by the state’s Democratic Party leaders, who said that the late-night comedian’s candidacy would distract from the serious business of picking a presidential nominee.

Serious business? Have they seen the debates so far?

The executive council of the South Carolina Democratic Party voted 13-3 to keep Colbert off the January primary ballot, saying the Comedy Central star did not meet guidelines requiring a candidate to be viable and to campaign actively for the job.

Kiss My Crass!

From The Christian Science Monitor:

Shock jock Don Imus – ousted from TV and radio for a racist and sexist remark – is coming back. Conservative pundit Ann Coulter – who has been criticized for anti-Islamic and anti-Semitic rants – never left.

For years, America’s public conversation has become increasingly harsh, polarized, and full of what satirist Stephen Colbert famously coined “truthiness” – the preoccupation with a “gut belief,” regardless of the facts of a situation.

How does he eat with that foot in his mouth?

From The New York Times:

The food, atmosphere and clientele at Sylvia’s were a matter of nationwide attention yesterday because Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News Channel talk show host, recently described being surprised to find that the black-owned establishment was as pleasant as other restaurants.

“It was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun,” Mr. O’Reilly said on his nationally syndicated radio show on Sept. 19. “And there wasn’t any kind of craziness at all.”

No wonder he was surprised. It wasn’t at all like BillO thought it was going to be:
