Dream Cleaver

From Slate:

On Tuesday morning, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that, in six months, the Trump administration will terminate DACA, the Obama-era program that allows young undocumented people brought to the United States as children to live and work here legally. Sessions could have given a straightforward speech that criticized the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program’s alleged legal infirmities and urged Congress to legislate a solution. Instead, he slandered DACA’s nearly 800,000 recipients in nativist language with barely concealed racist undertones.

French Horn(dog)

From Slate:

In the wake of an affectionate butt-tap between French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, here’s some decidedly unromantic news out of Paris. A video of Donald Trump commenting on the French First Lady’s physique is making the rounds on Twitter, and it is about as unpleasant to watch as you might imagine.

You better watch out, we know that you lie, you sold voters out, and people will die

From Jennifer Rubin at the Right Turn at The Washington Post:

By my count, six Republicans in districts that voted for Hillary Clinton voted in favor of the American Health Care Act in committee before they had the Congressional Budget Office scoring. These were: Reps. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), Mimi Walters (R-Calif.)Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.), Ryan Costello (R-Pa.) and Leonard Lance (R-N.J.). […] In some cases Clinton won by big margins in these Republicans’ districts. (In Curbelo’s district, she won by more than 16 points; in Paulsen’s by 9.5 points.) One supposes Democrats will put these members at or near the top of their list of incumbent targets in 2018.

Bye Bye Botox Batshit Bachmann!

At the beginning of the week, I read about the little spat that Botox Batshit Bachmann was having with her ex-campaign manager Ed Rollins. Ol’ Ed was a bit critical about her batshittery about the HPV vaccine causing mental retardation, and he remarked that she didn’t really have a snowball’s chance in Hell after the Iowa caucuses. Well, of course, Botox Batshit Bachmann was quite surprised. She would have looked like it, too, but with all the Botox, she is no longer able to raise her eyebrows. When asked about Ol’ Ed’s disloyalty to her and how he had previously dissed other candidates he had worked for, she said, “I guess I should have done that Google search.” She would have furrowed her forehead at that point, but, once again, the Botox. In response, Ol’ Ed said, “Well, if I would have Googled her, I would have found out she had 6 chiefs of staff in 5 years.”

Well, while they were busy regretting not googling each other, there are some new developments in the Botox Batshit Bachmann campaign ranks.

The Hot Seat

From TALKING POINTS MEMO:

The resignation of scandal-plagued Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), and the expected appointment of current Republican candidate Rep. Dean Heller to the seat, could portend a political mess of a wholly different sort: A special election for Heller’s House seat — and the conundrum for Republicans posed by the potential candidacy of their losing U.S. Senate nominee from 2010, Sharron Angle.

Angle, who lost the 2010 Senate race despite the national Republican wave — due to controversy over extreme statements about “Second Amendment remedies” to Democratic policies, and her statements in favor of phasing out Social Security and Medicare — has already been running for the House seat, along with retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold, who was chief officer of the U.S.S. Cole when it was attacked by al Qaeda in 2000. In addition, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and state GOP chair Mark Amodei are reportedly considering the race.

Randy Randy (Bed)Hopper

From the fdlreporter:

State Sen. Randy Hopper has hired a high profile national campaign manager to help him defend his seat against a recall effort and an allegation that Hopper no longer lives in the district he represents. The Fond du Lac Republican and seven other GOP state senators are the subjects of recall efforts following the tumult in Madison over Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill and their votes to eliminate collective bargaining for state workers on issues other than pay.

…snip…

This week, Hopper’s wife said the senator had moved out of the couple’s Fond du Lac home. In a statement, Alysia Hopper said her estranged husband moved out of their Rienzi Road home in May 2010 and lives “mostly in Madison.”

Comedy of Terrors

From The CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR:

Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin: Top 5 comedic comparisons

What do Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin have in common?

You mean, aside from the obvious? “Just give [O’Donnell] bangs and a pair of rimmed glasses and she’d be a dead ringer for…” Jon Stewart said on his show, flashing side by side photos of the two women after O’Donnell’s victory in the Delaware Senate primaries last week.

Political commentators can’t resist the comparison, not just on where O’Donnell and Palin stand on the issues, but in other aspects as well, especially considering Sarah Palin’s endorsement and mentoring of what many are calling her own “Mini-me.”

Why should comedians be any different?
