The Crock in Little Rock

Oh, kids, things are getting ugly in Arkansas. It seems that Blanche Lincoln is making up stories about her primary opponent, Bill Halter. She is intimating that he has a prescription drug problem, and that’s simply not true. Blanchipoo shouldn’t be making that kinda stuff up, especially when you see what’s she’s like when she’s not working!  Just look at the pictures given to me by my trusted anonymous source:

Batshit Bachmann Has a Farm, E-I-E-I-Uh-Oh!

From Yasha Levine at truthdig:

Michele Bachmann has become well known for her anti-government tea-bagger antics, protesting health care reform and every other government “handout” as socialism. What her followers probably don’t know is that Rep. Bachmann is, to use that anti-government slur, something of a welfare queen. That’s right, the anti-government insurrectionist has taken more than a quarter-million dollars in government handouts thanks to corrupt farming subsidies she has been collecting for at least a decade.

And she’s not the only one who has been padding her bank account with taxpayer money.

What the Huck?

From Sam Stein at THE HUFFINGTON POST:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee doubled down Sunday on controversial remarks he made last week, in which he declared that Ted Kennedy would have been told to go home and die under ObamaCare.

“What did I say that wasn’t true?” asked the one-time presidential candidate on his Fox News show “Huckabee.”

Huckabee accused “George Stephanopoulos, Time Magazine, the Huffington Post, and scores of liberal bloggers,” of going “berserk” over his suggestion that Kennedy would have been told to take a pain pill for his brain cancer.

Gonzogate: The Story That Never Dies

From The New York Times:

WASHINGTON — Thousands of pages of internal e-mail and once-secret Congressional testimony showed Tuesday that Karl Rove and other senior aides in the Bush White House played an earlier and more active role than was previously known in the 2006 firings of a number of United States attorneys.

Aides to former President George W. Bush have asserted that the Justice Department took the lead in the dismissals, which set off a political firestorm that lasted months. Mr. Rove played down his role in the firings in a recent interview and in closed testimony last month before Congressional investigators.

But the documents, released by the House Judiciary Committee after a protracted fight over access to White House records and testimony, offer a detailed portrait of a nearly two-year effort, from early 2005 to 2007, by senior White House officials, including Mr. Rove, to dismiss some prosecutors for what appear to be political reasons.

Welcome to BlancheMart!

From Arkansas Business:

Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., told a Monday meeting of the Little Rock Political Animals Club that she will oppose the Employee Free Choice Act.

“While I may not have been clear about my position in the past, I am stating today that I cannot support Employee Free Choice Act in its current form and I can’t support efforts to bring it to Senate consideration in its current form,” Lincoln said in a statement late Monday afternoon.

“I will consider alternatives that have the support of both business and labor but my pledge today is to focus my full attention on the priorities I have mentioned that affect every working family in Arkansas.”

Hmmmmm….I wonder why Blanche would be against EFCA…….

Well, I’m stumped, kids. Let’s go on.

In Order to Form a More Perfect Union…or Not

From The Washington Post:

As business and labor gird for battle over legislation that would make it easier for workers to organize, the debate could be transformed by a “third way” proposed by three companies that like to project a progressive image: Costco, Starbucks and Whole Foods.

Like other businesses, the three companies are opposed to two of the Employee Free Choice Act’s components — a provision that would allow workers to form a union if a majority sign pro-union cards, without having to hold a secret-ballot election, and one that would impose binding arbitration when employers and unions fail to reach a contract after 120 days.

But the companies’ chief executive officers say they also recognize that just opposing the legislation, commonly called “card check,” is not enough because of the widespread perception in Democrat-dominated Washington that there is not a level playing field between labor and business. So the CEOs have come up with ideas they hope will form the basis of new legislation.

McCain Enable?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mike Huckabee hasn’t won a Republican presidential contest in a month. The result: money is tighter, his staff is smaller and he can’t seem to get the attention he once did.

Still, he says he’s sticking around for the long haul — well past Tuesday’s coast-to-coast primaries and caucuses if need be.

“I’ll stay in until someone has 1,191 delegates,” the former Arkansas governor insisted Sunday in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from Kennesaw, Ga. He was referring to the number of convention delegates needed to win the party nod. “A year ago, nobody said I’d still be here. Look who’s still on his feet.”
