(CNN) Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter and his wife, Margaret, routinely — and illegally — used campaign funds to pay personal bills big and small, from luxury vacations to kids’ school lunches and delinquent family dentistry bills, according to a stinging 47-page indictment unsealed Tuesday.

While most of President Donald Trump’s offspring and their spouses have been mired in scandal or investigations, or have just been the butt of late-night jokes (see: Eric and Tiffany), Eric Trump’s wife Lara Trump has managed to glide above the fray.

That was until Thursday when former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman released a secret recording of a conversation with Lara Trump. Manigault Newman played the recording on MSNBC to bolster her contention that Trump’s loyal daughter-in-law tried to buy her silence after she was from the White House staff by offering her a $15,000-a-month contract to work in his re-election campaign.

President Donald Trump’s lawyer faced difficult questions on Sunday about Donald Trump Jr.’s attempt to glean damaging information on Hillary Clinton during a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer.

While Trump Jr.’s lawyers have remained primarily behind the scenes, the president’s personal lawyer has become a ubiquitous presence on television, performing the so-called “Full Ginsberg” by appearing on all five major political talk shows on Sunday.

When Representative Michele Bachmann hits the campaign trail, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

Mrs. Bachmann never mentions her rival Mr. Perry, who in a matter of weeks since he entered the Republican race for the 2012 nomination has captured a fair share of her Tea Party base.

But a political action committee that supports Mrs. Bachmann is not nearly so discrete. An advertisement it has created attacks Mr. Perry for raising spending in Texas and borrowing to cover deficits. “There is an honest conservative,’’ the ad concludes, “and she’s not Rick Perry.’’

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is worth between $190 million and $250 million, his campaign said yesterday after filing a personal financial disclosure statement with the Federal Election Commission.

That dollar figure would likely make him the wealthiest candidate in the 2012 White House race, far and away eclipsing President Obama. His only possible GOP rival is former governor Jon Huntsman of Utah, who has yet to release his disclosure form and is among the heirs to the Huntsman Corp. fortune.

But Money Can’t Buy You Love

On May 16, with great fanfare, Mitt Romney announced that he “raised $10.25 million” in a single day. The announcement resulted in an avalanche of good press. A database search reveals hundreds of references to his fundraising haul, virtually all of it positive.

Romney himself touted the $10 million figure, saying, “That’s a terrific start. Actually it’s more than just a start – it really gives us the boost that we need at this early stage in my effort.”

So how was it that, after raising over $10 million in one day, the campaign recently announced it only raised $15 to $20 million for the entire quarter?

As it turns out, the campaign wasn’t telling the truth.

Over the last two days, both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, perhaps reacting to Newt Gingrich’s announcement of his forthcoming announcement concerning his presidential ambitions, have published pieces about Gingrich’s “secret weapon.” According to The Times, it just may be Callista Gingrich, Newt’s former mistress and current wife, while the Journal identified Gingrich’s “secret weapon” as his conglomerate of “advocacy and for-profit groups,” known unofficially as Newt Inc.

Yeah, because women are going to flock to a woman who calls herself a religious Catholic and was cheating with a married man who later ditched the ex and married her.
