(CNN) – The avalanche of negative campaign ads from Mitt Romney is wearing on rival Newt Gingrich, but he said Thursday he won’t break his pledge to stay positive.
Speaking to Iowa Public Television, the former House speaker said the onslaught of vitriol coming from Romney headquarters jarred with the spirit of the holidays.
“I think it’s counterintuitive,” Gingrich said. “We have an ad that will come up next week where Callista and I are wishing people a Merry Christmas, and we’re talking in a totally positive way. I think if these guys keep up this kind of negative junk, it’s so discordant with the spirit of Christmas.”
Yeah, let’s keep with the spirit of Christmas by saying that poor kids should have to clean toilets for their richer classmates.
From Dana Milbank at POST OPINIONS at The Washington Post:
Yes, [Rick] Perry is passionately anti-government, or at least anti-this-government. But the man who suddenly tops the Republican presidential polls is no libertarian. Rick Perry is a theocrat.
And he’s not the only one. I’m lookin’ at you
Botox Batshit Michele Bachmann and Princess Sarah Palin!
I was busy going over to the neighbors’ houses to give the little kids their presents, so I don’t have anything prepared. I hope you don’t mind if I dust off a few things to wish you all a happy holiday.
All the shopping is done…
I wanted to give all you dear Raisinettes a present for Christmas. For the past 2 years, we’ve been singing the Grincheney Song, but this year, I thought there should be a new Grinch. In fact, a McGrinch.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) called Democrats’ push to force through an arms control treaty and an omnibus spending bill right before Christmas “sacrilegious,” and warned he’d draw the process out to wage his objections.
“We shouldn’t be jamming a major arms control treaty up against Christmas; it’s sacrilegious and disrespectful,” he told POLITICO. “What’s going on here is just wrong. This is the most sacred holiday for Christians. They did the same thing last year – they kept everybody here until [Christmas Eve] to force something down everybody’s throat. I think Americans are sick of this.”
Did you see this, kids? Governor
Droopy Dog Jan Brewer of Arizona posted it on her Facebook page to wish all her constituents a Merry Christmas. Well, all of them, except those awaiting transplants. Screw those Debbie Downers!
I don’t know why she has to roll up her sleeves in order to ring a bell, but that’s not what’s important at the moment. As you can see, there’s been a terrible mix-up, and someone on her staff used a picture of some
young attractive woman instead of the real hag with a face like a used teabag Governor Jan. Good thing I’m in a holiday mood and not holding any grudges. I’ve corrected the error.
From The Caucus at The New York Times:
The soon-to-be House speaker, John A. Boehner, said that he took a breath before he chose to describe the Democrats’ decision to vote to extend tax cuts for all but wealthy Americans. And the phrasing he came up with? “Chicken crap.”
Ummmm, Boohoo, with your complexion, shouldn’t that be roasted chicken crap?
