Ethel Taitz

From the LAS VEGAS SUN:

Orly Taitz, the self-appointed “queen of the birthers,” has endorsed Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle.

Taitz today asked supporters to donate money to Angle’s campaign and to visit Las Vegas to stump for the Tea Party darling.

I bet Sharron the Obtuse Angle is sooooo excited over getting an endorsement from someone so widely well-respected. That takes the sting out of having to wear a socialist hat that had to be approved and certified healthy by the CDC. If only everyone had listened to Congressman and medical doctor, Paul Broun (R-BATSHITVILLE).

Tater Tot

From THINK PROGRESS:

Late last week, the Ben Quayle for Congress campaign released a new YouTube video featuring the young Republican blasting the government for supposedly “loading massive debt on the backs of Americans so the politicians can keep spending money on their agenda.”

The video begins with Quayle saying that, while “numbers can be boring, every American can and must understand the numbers I’m about to describe.” He warns that “America is today spending well over 14.5 trillion dollars a year”:

Double Screecher

From Alaska Dispatch:

When former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin first endorsed Joe Miller on June 2 in his race for the U.S. Senate seat against incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski, the tone of that endorsement could be described as civil. […]  In her Facebook note, which is how Palin does these things, she also made sure that she dispelled rumors of personal animus between herself and Murkowski.

…snip…

That was Sarah then. And to go back further, the Sarah a year ago went so far as to donate $5,000 to Murkowski through her PAC, the maximum she could have given.

But today is another day, as they say, and a new Facebook face emerges with a totally different tone. This one doesn’t bother to talk about how she wishes Lisa well, or even about the value of competition. This one goes for the jugular. This one repeats every criticism leveled against Murkowski by Miller and the far right, makes note of the fact that Murkowski was “given her Senate seat by her father,” and accuses Murkowski of talking “one way in the Last Frontier and then vote the opposite way in the Beltway.” And that’s just for starters.

Colorado: The Bucktennial State?

From CQ POLITICS:

DENVER — Even after they became fodder on the campaign trail, Ken Buck refused to ditch his cowboy boots as he traveled across Colorado last week.

Buck clearly enjoys the tough guy image his footwear signifies, but the boots may also be a symbol of his wild ride in trying to harness the power of the tea party in the Republican Senate primary.

Buck owes his rise in the race largely to the tea party movement, yet this week the Weld County district attorney is having to explain his comment that he wants the “dumbasses at the tea party to stop asking questions about birth certificates while I’m on the camera.”

They’re dumb, stupid, idiotic, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera…

From IOWA POLITICS.COM (Press release):

Lake Elmo, Minnesota – Congressman Steve King will be the featured speaker at Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s annual picnic tonight in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Bachmann is seeking her third term in the U.S. Congress and hosts this event for volunteers and supporters.

…snip…

King’s endorsement has been highly sought by conservative candidates for Congress across the nation. He has recently campaigned for candidates in New Hampshire, Florida, Arizona, and Virginia.

Original DVD cover

King and Bachmann have been dynamic allies on Capitol Hill leading the fight to repeal Obamacare and to prevent further takeovers by the federal government. King and Bachmann have teamed up to author the “Declaration of Health Care Independence,” organize tens of thousands in opposition to Obamacare, and now are the two lead Members of Congress pressing for a “discharge petition” to repeal Obamacare.

“Michele Bachmann is intellectually brilliant, quick, strongly grounded in her faith and the Constitution, bold in her defense of Liberty, and extraordinarily blessed with great instincts,” said King. “At no time in my life has America needed her more.”

King is also seeking re-election to the U.S. Congress in Iowa’s 5th Congressional District. First elected in 2002, King has earned national stature and prominence as a leading voice for Constitutional Conservatives in America. He serves on the U.S. House Judiciary, Small Business, and Agriculture Committees.

Insert your own jokes, kids.

Far Right Angle

From David Weigel at Right Now at The Washington Post:

Nevada GOP U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle, who never courted the media the way Rand Paul did, has avoided her fellow “tea party” favorite’s mistakes, keeping fairly quiet since securing the nomination Tuesday. That hasn’t stopped Democrats from making Angle the star of their story about the 2010 elections — a saga of tea party activists saddling the GOP with candidates that even an angry electorate can’t possibly send to Washington.

He should have taken his focus off the family and put it on whom he was endorsing

From Hotline On Call at the National Journal:

Prominent social conservative leader James Dobson is switching horses in the race to replace retiring Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) after he misunderstood one candidate’s position on abortion.

Last week, Dobson endorsed KY Sec/State Trey Grayson (R), the establishment favorite to take over for Bunning. He did so because Dobson believed Grayson was better on abortion issues than ophthalmologist Rand Paul (R), who leads some recent polls.

In fact, Paul is pro-life himself. Dobson acknowledged the mistake and blamed GOP officials for spreading false information.

Texas Tea

From Karl Frisch at MEDIA MATTERS (April 24, 2010):

As Media Matters noted in a special report released this week:

In recent years, at least twenty Fox News personalities have endorsed, raised money, or campaigned for Republican candidates or causes, or against Democratic candidates or causes, in more than 300 instances and in at least 49 states. Republican parties and officials have routinely touted these personalities’ affiliations with Fox News to sell and promote their events.

Now the Associated Press is reporting that Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) — whose prospects for reelection in November are considered a “toss-up” by prominent political analyst Charlie Cook — is slated to participate in Fox News host Glenn Beck’s traveling road-show today when it touches down in Texas:

With his Republican primary victory safely behind him, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is still working hard to court conservative voters.

Perry, who is running for a third full term in office, is scheduled to speak Saturday night at conservative radio and television talk show host Glenn Beck’s “Taking Back America” town hall event in Tyler.
