From POLITICS DAILY:
Republican Sen. John McCain, who lifted former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin out of obscurity to be his vice presidential partner last year, isn’t saying much about Palin’s new tell-all, blame-all book. But Steve Schmidt, who managed the campaign and is a chief target in the book, doesn’t think much of “Going Rogue.”

From The Huffington Post:
One of John McCain’s advisers recently called his running mate Sarah Palin a “diva” after she went off-script at a rally, and suggested she was looking after her own political future over the current campaign. Now another adviser ups the ante in a conversation with the Politico’s Playbook, labeling Palin a “whack job.”

(CNN) — Sen. John McCain said Sunday he’s “very happy” with the way his campaign is going, despite his “underdog” status in the polls.
“We’re going to be in a tight race and we’re going to be up late on election night. That’s just — I’m confident of that. I’ve been in too many campaigns, my friend, not to sense that things are headed our way,” McCain said Sunday on Fox News.
Sen. Barack Obama leads McCain by 6 points, according to CNN’s latest average of national polls.
“I love being the underdog. You know, every time that I’ve gotten ahead, somehow I’ve messed it up,” the Republican candidate said.
He must be thrilled out of his mind!! Here’s the very happy underdog at a rally with some of his supporters, who look pretty darned ecstatic, too!

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — John McCain on Thursday rejected the endorsement of televangelist John Hagee after it was reported that the pastor once argued the Nazis operated on God’s behalf to root out Jews in Europe and get them to Palestine.
McCain’s rejection of Hagee was followed by the pastor’s withdrawal of his endorsement of the Arizona senator. Hagee had said in March that McCain sought his endorsement, but McCain has found himself repudiating a number of controversial remarks made by the minister since then.

From the Washington Post:
NEW YORK — Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) defended his attacks against Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) during his appearance tonight on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and suggested he might pick a fictional character from NBC’s “The Office” as his vice president.
Marking his 13th appearance on the show, McCain parried with Stewart on questions ranging from his Secret Service detail to his relationship with President Bush. The senator joked that he decided to announce his vice presidential choice on tonight’s show: Dwight Schrute, the assistant to the regional manager (or “assistant regional manager,” if you ask Schrute) in the Scranton branch of the faux Dunder Mifflin paper company.

To the tune of You May Be Right written and performed by Billy Joel
I’m the leader of my party,
Really mean and so old-farty,
Vote for me, make sure nothing will change,
The right is stuck with me,
Since they ditched Mike Huckabee,
They ignore the fact that I am quite deranged.
