Blue Dogs Barking

From Robert Reich:

Republicans figure that if they can’t sell the pig, they’ll just put lipstick on it and find some suckers who will think it’s something else.

That’s the proposal emerging in the Senate from Republican Bob Corker of Tennessee and also Democrat Claire McCaskill of Missouri.

Cross Palination

From Politico:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says he was surprised by John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin because he believes the only difference between himself and the Alaska governor is “she looks better in stilettos than I do.”

Reflecting on the Palin pick in an interview with the New Yorker posted Monday, Huckabee told the magazine that “I was scratching my head, saying, ‘Hey, wait a minute. She’s wonderful, but the only difference was she looks better in stilettos than I do, and she has better hair.’”

Well, kids, we now know the direction the Rethuglican party is going to take. Chuckleberry feels like he is going to have to compete with Princess Sarah next time around, and I suspect the others will follow suit (that is, if the Rethuglican party gives them shopping sprees, too!)….

Original DVD cover.
Apparently, Chuckleberry didn’t get the memo about shopping at Neiman Marcus and rushed over to his local Walmart. Rudy, not to be outdone, goes to Dame Edna garage sales.

Stand-Up Guys

Last night, John Shecky McCain and Barack Steverino Obama exchanged jokes at the 63rd annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner. The dinner is a charity event held by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York and benefits needy children.

Original DVD cover.
You can find videos of the event all over the internets (and make sure to note the guy behind Captain Underpants who never stops eating 😆 , but just in case you can’t watch them, here are the funny portions of the routines. They both ended with fake nice stuff about each other.

How’s The View, Cindy Lou?

(CNN) –Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

Better not let Phil Gramm hear that whining, Cindy Lou!

Rethuglican Girls Gone Wild!

From the Orlando Sentinel:

Two Florida women on the “Palin Truth Squad” set up by the John McCain campaign have added their voices to the McCain-inspired controversy over Barack Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” comments. You’ll recall that the insult — a longtime Southernism — was addressed at McCain. Efforts to depict the four-term senator as an agent of change are, Obama said, “like putting lipstick on a pig.”

It didn’t take long for former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift to accuse him of a “gender-based” remark that must have been directed at Sarah Palin — she being the only person in the campaign, Swift helpfully explained, who wears lipstick.

Yes, kids, a Palin Truth Squad. The woman who is supposedly ready to be President needs bridesmaids an entire squad to watch over her and make sure nobody insults Captain Underpants’s little Princess Sarah. Don’t tell anyone, but I got a photo of one of the squad’s secret meetings!

Lipstick Smears

From CBS News:

The McCain campaign jumped hard on Obama’s use of the phrase “lipstick on a pig.”

In addition to an Internet-only video, their “truth squad” quickly set up a conference call. The claim: “Obama was talking about Sarah Palin.”

Former Republican Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, a member of the Palin Truth Squad, said: “Sen. Obama in Lebanon, Va., this evening said [what] I can only deem to be disgraceful comments, comparing Governor Palin to a pig.”

What connected Palin to the comment? They say it’s a line from her convention speech: “What’s the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Lipstick.”

The Facts: Obama had not mentioned Palin. He was focused on the central argument of his campaign: that McCain’s promise of change is hollow because his policies would be no different than President Bush’s.

I don’t know about you, kids, but I am sick of all this talk about lipstick on a pig! How about this instead…

A PIG ON LIPSTICK!
