Don’t Meet the Press

From SF Gate at the San Francisco Chronicle:

Last week after his “disastrous” interview with Fox News (and that’s according to Foxie Juan Williams), and his wah-wahhing to Fox’s Bret Baier that it was “overly aggressive,” GOP prez candidate Mitt Romney was pressed on why he doesn’t do more interviews.

Oh, pshaw, Mitt told the traveling press as he avoided their questions. We do avails “almost every day.”

…snip…

“Almost” in the Mittionary doesn’t include California, where Mitt will be the recipient Wednesday of some hard-earned Golden State campaign gold. On that day, he’ll be in lovely Burlingame for a $2,500 to $25,000-a-person fundraiser. But, says Team Mitt spokesman Ryan Williams tells us, he won’t be talking to those who don’t have a ticket:

“We do not have a media avail scheduled around this trip,” Williams said.

Its Comical, Part 8: Clean-up Edition

This will be the last installment of the series, so let’s take a look at some of the comics and comic-related pix we haven’t seen before. One of the longest running comics is Dennis the Menace, and we have had a few different Dennises. There was Chimpy, with Deadeye Dick Cheney filling in for Mr. Wilson…

It’s Comical, Part 7: King of the Hill Edition

One of my favorite animated shows on television was King of the Hill.  It took place in Texas, so it naturally reminded me of Chimpy.  Since it’s the 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court appointing Chimpy to the preznitcy, it’s fitting we begin with a picture of him (and even more fitting that it celebrates the end of his reign, knowing all the damage he did)…

Employment for Losers

I don’t know about you, kids, but I’ve been so worried about those xwingnutsx Republicans who didn’t win their elections. What will they do now? After all, Fox News only has so many job slot they can fill. Well, you know me. I’m always here to help out the Rethugs in their time of need.

My heart broke, broke I tell ya!, when I saw Queen Meg Whitman’s reaction to losing her bid to be California’s governor to Jerry Brown. I think it’s important for her to stay busy, so I say Put on your new maid‘s uniform, and mop up those tears, Nutmeg! Maybe she can earn back some of that $160 mil she wasted.

Behind the Curtain

From D.C. WATER COOLER:

This year should be a blowout for Republicans. 2010 is a year when voter dissatisfaction is extreme, high unemployment lingers, and Republican turnout is expected to be strong. Yet one group of Republican candidates is performing poorly in races from coast to coast. Why did Republicans choose such a weak bunch of women?

Maid in the U.S.A.

At a debate in California which was broadcast in Spanish, Candidate Meg Whitman accused her opponent, Jerry Brown, of releasing the story about the undocumented housekeeper she had fired.  Brown said that, if she won’t take responsibility for her actions, she shouldn’t be governor.

Rowdy With a Chance of Screwballs

From Betsy Reed at THE Nation:

In the media spectacle that is the 2010 midterm elections, women of the GOP are playing starring roles. They have figured prominently in nearly every plot and subplot that holds any real interest or potential for debased amusement: from Indian-American Nikki Haley’s triumph over her mudslinging male rivals for the GOP gubernatorial nod in South Carolina, to Carly Fiorina’s catty open-mic swipe at her opponent Barbara Boxer’s hair in the first-ever contest between two women for a California Senate seat, to WWF founder and Connecticut Senate hopeful Linda McMahon’s gifts to oh-so-lucky Democratic ad firms (including video of the candidate physically attacking a buxom, scantily clad woman purporting to be her husband’s lover), to the daily dose of clips revealing Christine O’Donnell’s youthful preoccupations with witchcraft and masturbation. Remember when politics was boring?
