Herstory

Okay, so, the world started about 6,000 years ago when Jesus was ridin’ around on his dinosaur and shootin’ up moose, so’s he could make moose stew for himself and all his friends (not for all those poor people). Anyways, like I was sayin’, Jesus managed to do all that while also,too, startin’ up the NRA. Most people don’t know that, you betcha!

Just Desserts

Is Elmo a Kenyan, too? Or maybe a Socialist? He is awfully red, after all.

I ask because the Sesame Street puppet recently visited the White House to support “Let’s Move,” first lady Michelle Obama’s campaign against childhood obesity. And that campaign has become, in one of the more striking political stories of the past year, the latest battleground in the left-right culture wars.

The obesity epidemic is a genuine public health emergency, with vast implications for the nation’s well-being, economy and even national security. And yet, could anyone really be against children eating healthier food and getting more exercise? Could anyone really object to White House assistant chef Sam Kass trying to interest Elmo in a vegetable-laden burrito?

Well, yes, if Michelle Obama is for it, someone will be against it. Someone like Glenn Beck, for example, who was moved to rail against carrot sticks, or Sarah Palin, who warned that Obama wants to deprive us all of dessert.

Juan Williams, who was fired from his job at NPR after comments he made on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” this week regarding Muslims, fired back at the radio station on Friday while guest hosting “The O’Reilly Factor.”

“My comments about my feelings supposedly crossed this line, some line, somewhere. That crossed the line?” Williams said.

After coining a new word-“refudiate”- Sarah Palin has now compared herself to Shakespeare, for her rather controversial contribution to English language.

The former Republican Vice Presidential candidate made up a new word and first used it last week on Fox News’s Hannity show when she called on President Obama and his wife Michelle to “refudiate” the NAACP’s suggestion that the Tea Party movement was racist.

But, it did not end there, for Palin used it again in a tweet addressing the Ground Zero mosque controversy.

Oh Henry

Continuing our story from yesterday, in which Henry Brown, Jr. saves Christmas, we now know from whom he saved it.

A Republican lawmaker with a mission to save Christmas is aiming his latest salvo at President and first lady [sic] Obama, who’ve followed in a recent tradition to eliminate the mention of Christmas in the White House holiday cards.

The card selected by the Obamas announces: “Season’s Greetings.” Inside, it reads: “May your family have a joyous holiday season and a new year blessed with hope and happiness.”

Seasons Greetings? A joyous holiday season? A new year blessed with hope and happiness? 😯 They really are socialist Marxist anarchist Communist terrorist Muslims!!!

But Rep. Henry Brown, R-S.C., said abandoning Christmas at Christmas is just plain wrong. On Tuesday, he introduced a resolution calling for the protection of the sanctity of Christmas. So far, 44 lawmakers, Democrat and Republican [1 Democrat, to be exact], have co-signed the bill.

“I believe that sending a Christmas card without referencing a holiday and its purpose limits the Christmas celebration in favor of a more ‘politically correct’ holiday,” Brown told Fox News Radio on Thursday.

Michelle Obama arrived in Denmark just before 5 a.m. Chicago time and was greeted by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and his wife, Maggie. About two hours later, Oprah landed.

Only two days remain before the big decision. The Chicago bid team is looking to sway as many voters as possible.

A Sorry Excuse For an Apology

Reporting from Washington – President Obama on Sunday dismissed the uproar over Rep. Joe Wilson’s heckling during the president’s speech Wednesday to a joint session of Congress, suggesting it was only a distraction — even as some members of Obama’s party threatened to punish the South Carolina Republican.

“This is part of what happens. I mean, it becomes a big circus instead of us focusing on healthcare,” Obama said in an interview on the CBS news program “60 Minutes.”

Obama noted that Wilson later apologized, which “I appreciated.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and other senior Democrats in the chamber indicated last week that unless Wilson went to the House floor to apologize, they would advance a resolution admonishing Wilson for shouting “You lie” during Obama’s address.
