From Betsy Reed at THE Nation:
In the media spectacle that is the 2010 midterm elections, women of the GOP are playing starring roles. They have figured prominently in nearly every plot and subplot that holds any real interest or potential for debased amusement: from Indian-American Nikki Haley’s triumph over her mudslinging male rivals for the GOP gubernatorial nod in South Carolina, to Carly Fiorina’s catty open-mic swipe at her opponent Barbara Boxer’s hair in the first-ever contest between two women for a California Senate seat, to WWF founder and Connecticut Senate hopeful Linda McMahon’s gifts to oh-so-lucky Democratic ad firms (including video of the candidate physically attacking a buxom, scantily clad woman purporting to be her husband’s lover), to the daily dose of clips revealing Christine O’Donnell’s youthful preoccupations with witchcraft and masturbation. Remember when politics was boring?

From Maureen Dowd at The New York Times (Op-Ed):
Christine O’Donnell doesn’t understand why monkeys can’t turn into people right before her eyes.
Bill Maher continued his video torment of O’Donnell by releasing another old clip of her on his HBO show on Friday night, this time showing one in which she argued that “Evolution is a myth.”
Maher shot back, “Have you ever looked at a monkey?” To which O’Donnell rebutted, “Why aren’t monkeys still evolving into humans?”

(CNN) — American politics has a photogenic new face with a troubled past of bad finances, potential fraud and a flirtation with witchcraft.
A previously unknown conservative activist named Christine O’Donnell is a sudden political sensation and Washington is trying to figure out what to make of her.
“Certainly she has some explaining to do,” Republican Congressman Mike Pence said this week.
Chrissssiiiiiiie!! You got some ‘splainin’ to do!!!!

From The CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR:
Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin: Top 5 comedic comparisons
What do Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin have in common?
You mean, aside from the obvious? “Just give [O’Donnell] bangs and a pair of rimmed glasses and she’d be a dead ringer for…” Jon Stewart said on his show, flashing side by side photos of the two women after O’Donnell’s victory in the Delaware Senate primaries last week.
Political commentators can’t resist the comparison, not just on where O’Donnell and Palin stand on the issues, but in other aspects as well, especially considering Sarah Palin’s endorsement and mentoring of what many are calling her own “Mini-me.”
Why should comedians be any different?

From The CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR:
Following her tea party-fueled victory in Delaware’s GOP senate primary this past week, Christine O’Donnell has soared to national prominence faster than you can say “Sarah Palin.” In fact, many are likening O’Donnell to the mama grizzly herself.

From Andy Ostroy at OpEd News:
It’s the hottest band in politics: Sarah & the GOPettes. Ya got Palin, Michelle Bachman [sic], Nikki Haley and Christine O’Donnell. They’re young, personable and attractive, and are out there on the 2010 Tea Party Tour whipping the radical right-wing fringe base into a veritable frenzy. O’Donnell’s the latest addition, with her stunning defeat of 42-year Delaware Republican career-politician Mike Castle in Tuesday’s Senate primary. Heck, I’ll even throw the 61-year-old Sharon Angle [sic] into this group.

(From far right to even more far right: Little Chrissie O’Donnell, Princess Sarah Palin, Batshit Michele Bachmann)

From MEDIA MATTERS:
Right-wing media figures are attacking Fox News’ Karl Rove for “trashing” Christine O’Donnell after her victory in the Delaware GOP Senate primary, stating that his comments were “disgraceful” and that Rove “came across as an effete sore loser.”

From THE HILL:
Republican leaders were scrambling Wednesday to unify their party in the wake of a nasty GOP primary in Delaware that knocked Rep. Mike Castle (Del.), their top recruit, out of the race.
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told The Hill Wednesday that he will contribute campaign funds to Christine O’Donnell, who in narrowly defeating Castle may have given Democrats an advantage in the general election.
…snip…
McConnell downplayed the notion that contentious GOP primaries have exposed disunity within his party.
Then he grimaced and puked in his Turtle Chow.
