That’s gonna leave a stain

From THE HILL:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday dismissed criticism from MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, stating in an interview on Fox News Radio that one thing he’s “not going to worry about is pleasing Joe Scarborough.”

The push back comes after Scarborough, who left the Republican Party last year after saying he could not be in a party that backed President Trump, said Graham had “sold his soul” by supporting the president on a number of issues.

Brat-worst!

Kids, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry (Boohoo Boehner always goes with the latter). Do we celebrate the demise of Widdle Ewic Cantor’s political career, or do we mourn the fact that Teabagger fruitcake David Brat just might be the next asswipe in Congress?

Snow White? Not even before she drifted.

From POSTPOLITICS at The Washington Post:

Days after Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) snagged Ed Rollins as manager of her nascent presidential campaign, the high-profile strategist is engaged in a war of words with advisers to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Palin and Bachmann are potential rivals in the 2012 GOP presidential primary contest.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who dares to call Princess Sarah the dumbest of them all?

Uh-oh, now he’s gone and pissed off St. Ronnie!

From POLITICO:

Herman Cain’s camp is firing back at Rick Santorum after the former Pennsylvania senator challenged Cain’s electoral viability while on the stump in South Carolina.

Slate reported that Santorum, chatting ahead of the question-and-answer portion of an Aiken, S.C. luncheon, challenged the notion that Cain was a viable candidate.

“He’s never won an election,” Santorum said. “And it’s not that he hasn’t tried. He’s run twice and lost.”

Cain spokeswoman Ellen Carmichael, responding to Santorum’s comments, said Republicans shouldn’t attack each other in the run-up to the 2012 primaries.

“We are disappointed to see Senator Santorum violating President Ronald Reagan’s ‘Eleventh Commandment:’

The Apprent-ass

From Paul Harris at the Mail & Guardian online:

The bright lights of the Las Vegas strip were an apt setting for the Donald Trump carnival roadshow to end up in last week. Amid the garish neon of the gigantic Treasure Island Casino, the business mogul-turned-reality TV star-turned-potential Republican presidential candidate made his latest stop.

Speaking at an event called The Reagan Revolution: From Ronald to Donald, Trump made his pitch to an audience of Nevada Republican bigwigs and curious onlookers in one of the key early-voting states in the nomination process. In the casino’s ballroom, which featured an ice statue of himself, Trump gave a virtuoso performance that was full of braggadocio and littered with expletives. “Our leaders are stupid, they are stupid people,” he said, before referring to the Chinese government as “motherfuckers” against whom he’d raise trade tariffs.

The Hot Seat

From TALKING POINTS MEMO:

The resignation of scandal-plagued Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), and the expected appointment of current Republican candidate Rep. Dean Heller to the seat, could portend a political mess of a wholly different sort: A special election for Heller’s House seat — and the conundrum for Republicans posed by the potential candidacy of their losing U.S. Senate nominee from 2010, Sharron Angle.

Angle, who lost the 2010 Senate race despite the national Republican wave — due to controversy over extreme statements about “Second Amendment remedies” to Democratic policies, and her statements in favor of phasing out Social Security and Medicare — has already been running for the House seat, along with retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold, who was chief officer of the U.S.S. Cole when it was attacked by al Qaeda in 2000. In addition, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and state GOP chair Mark Amodei are reportedly considering the race.

Cindy Hampton Isn’t the Only One John Ensign Screwed!

From 8NEWSNOW:

LAS VEGAS — The pieces continue to fall into place for a political shake up like Nevada has never seen.

Senator John Ensign is stepping down, Congressman Dean Heller may take his place and the chain reaction is now uncharted territory that could cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Governor Brian Sandoval said Friday he will name a replacement for Ensign before May 3rd. If Heller is the selection, as has been expected, state leaders actually have no idea of what exactly to do next.

Weak Tea

From POST POLITICS at the Washington Post:

A sparse crowd of tea party activists gathered beneath the U.S. Capitol on Thursday to urge Congress to cut more spending from the current federal budget and to cheer on some of their favorite politicians, including Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Steve King (R-Iowa).

One organizer estimated that a couple of hundred protesters had gathered near the Robert A. Taft bell tower north of the Capitol at lunchtime Thursday. According to a media sign-in sheet, at least 50 of those present were journalists documenting the latest tea party rally in Washington.

Because there’s nothing more important for them to be covering than a handful of members of the Batshit Bachmann fan club?
