Unreality TV

From the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES:

Things keep getting interesting behind the scenes on ”Dancing With the Stars.” A show insider says, ”Move over, Michael Bolton! Bristol Palin is now out-diva-ing you!”

The source said the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has become a constant pain in the rear for “DWTS” staffers. ”Clearly she didn’t read the fine print on her contract — and that’s just a figure of speech. There’s nothing hidden in the contracts,” said the ”Dancing” source.

”Otherwise, Bristol wouldn’t be complaining about all the things contestants are required to do.”

Bristol and Mike The Situation Sorrentino, like their predecessor on DWTS, Kate Gosselin (whose only achievement to date seems to be squeezing out 8 kids), are now considered stars. Captain Underpants is flirting with Snooki on Twitter. Combine that with the news now becoming nothing but entertainment and the race for ratings, would this be inconceivable in the near future?

All Other Grifters Palin Comparison

From THE HUFFINGTON POST:

Sarah Palin aligns her public image with the heartland, but it appears the former Alaska Governor has gone Hollywood. And when she leaves, she may be taking some of it with her.

On top of an appearance on the Tonight Show and rumors that she’s shopping around a TV show with reality producer Mark Burnett, Palin and her entourage were seen partaking in one of celebrity’s lushest rituals — the Oscar gifting suite.

While the group was loading up on freebies, the Los Angeles Times reported that, “Palin’s middle child, Willow, got her hair styled […].”

You kids know how I’m always anxious to help.  I’ve already thought of a name for Princess’s reality show!

Rod Blackojevich

From IMBd (The Jerk):

Navin R. Johnson: Huh? I am not a bum. I’m a jerk. I once had wealth, power, and the love of a beautiful woman. Now I only have two things: my friends and… uh… my thermos. Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin’ on the porch with my family, singin’ and dancin’ down in Mississippi.

Rod Blagojevich:I’m blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived, I saw it all growing up.

I kid you not.

It’ll take a sorcerer to repair this guy’s image

From CHICAGO SUN-TIMES:

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Rock-star wife/TV personality Sharon Osbourne. Pro wrestler/actor Goldberg. Comic Sinbad.

Toss in a couple of former athletes, Australian TV chef Curtis Stone and Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, and you have most of the season 3 cast of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Why, that’s Fantasia…I mean, fantastic!

Helium and Hot Air

From the Los Angeles Times:

Reporting from Fort Collins, Colo., and Los Angeles — The strange case of Falcon Heene took another twist Sunday when a Colorado sheriff said the boy’s parents had staged the runaway balloon saga as a publicity stunt to score a reality television show.

“There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that this was a hoax,” Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden said at a news conference in Fort Collins. Richard and Mayumi Heene planned the caper for at least two weeks, he said, and are likely to face felony charges.

The sheriff added that some entertainment media might have been complicit, but he refused to identify them. One outlet, he said, had already paid the Heenes in connection with the balloon launch.
