From The Washington Post:
Rod J. Rosenstein, again, was in danger of losing his job. The New York Times had just reported that — in the heated days after James B. Comey was fired as FBI director — the deputy attorney general had suggested wearing a wire to surreptitiously record President Trump. Now Trump, traveling in New York, was on the phone, eager for an explanation.
Rosenstein — who, by one account, had gotten teary-eyed just before the call in a meeting with Trump’s chief of staff — sought to defuse the volatile situation and assure the president he was on his team, according to people familiar with matter. He criticized the Times report, published in late September, and blamed it on former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, whose recollections formed its basis. Then he talked about special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and told the president he would make sure Trump was treated fairly, people familiar with the conversation said.
“I give the investigation credibility,” Rosenstein said, according to an administration official with knowledge of what was said during the call. “I can land the plane.”

Washington (CNN) The FBI raided the office of Michael Cohen, a personal lawyer and confidant of President Donald Trump, Cohen’s attorney confirmed to CNN Monday.
From the DAILY BEAST:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has no plans to leave office, as friends say he’s grown angry with President Donald Trump following a series of attacks meant to marginalize his power and, potentially, encourage his resignation.
“Sessions is totally pissed off about it,” said a Sessions ally familiar with his thinking. “It’s beyond insane. It’s cruel and it’s insane and it’s stupid.”
Uh-oh! Little Ernie…I mean, Little BeauBeau is pissed off! Ever see The Help, Twitler? Better not eat the cookies…especially the chocolate ones, no matter how beautiful they are.

For the second time in two weeks, freshman Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) was interrupted mid-question at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing.
At the hearing for Attorney General Jeff Sessions Tuesday afternoon, Harris was asking about a Department of Justice policy Sessions repeatedly referred to when Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) interrupted her.

From Dana Milbank at The Washington Post:
Rod Rosenstein: Save yourself.
For years, the man who just became the No. 2 official in the Justice Department painstakingly built a reputation as a gifted prosecutor and an above-the-fray lawman, serving Democratic and Republican administrations alike.
Now, just over two weeks into his new job, he has become a national joke.
