Poisoned apples? That’s what happens when you abolish the FDA.

Hey, kids, did you see the debate last night?  If you didn’t, I’ll tell you in a nutshell what happened.  Forgive me if I missed some of the visual stuff, because they panned the New Hampshire audience, and I was temporarily blinded by the glaring whiteness.

It started with a kid-off.  For some reason, Rethugs think that having more kids and grandkids means that you’re more qualified to be president.   Everyone bashed the Affordable Care Act (a/k/a ObamaCare) and talked about jobs, jobs, jobs, even though none of them had any plans to create any other than the usual tax cuts.  The Ken doll Mittsie just stood around in his lucky magic underwear within his invisible shield, where nobody could wound him.  Timmeh was so chicken, Sue Lowden could have bartered him for a colonoscopy.  When asked about his remark about ObamneyCare, he froze like a deer in headlights and danced away backward from that remark as quick as you could say Ginger Rogers.

Ensign Family Values

From the Los Angeles Times:

Nevada Sen. John Ensign, facing an ethics investigation stemming from an affair with a campaign aide, said Monday he would not seek reelection because he wanted to spare his family from an “exceptionally ugly” campaign.

“At this point in my life, I have to put my family first,” Ensign told reporters at a news conference in Las Vegas.

A Few of My Favorite Zings

To the tune of My Favorite Things (music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein):

Health care and midterms and all kinds of fighting,
Rallies and scandals, it was so exciting,
Tea party darlings were at it again,
All this shit happened in 2010.

Nothing but heartache for millions of Haitians,
While dumb old Pat Robertson hurled accusations,
John Roberts’ activist band of Supremes,
Were simply the court of a lobbyist’s dreams.

Juicy Fruit

From POLITICO:

Jon Ralston today posted a remarkable audio recording of Nevada Republican Sharron Angle meeting privately with a conservative rival, Scott Ashjian, and his allies.

The recording is worth listening to in full despite its poor quality. It suggests that — at least for the purposes of this conversation with a Tea Party figure — behind the facade of a real grassroots outsider who hates the organized Republican Party is … a real grassroots outsider who hates the organized Republican Party.

Welcome to the New G. O. Tea

From THE HILL:

Republican leaders were scrambling Wednesday to unify their party in the wake of a nasty GOP primary in Delaware that knocked Rep. Mike Castle (Del.), their top recruit, out of the race.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told The Hill Wednesday that he will contribute campaign funds to Christine O’Donnell, who in narrowly defeating Castle may have given Democrats an advantage in the general election.

…snip…

McConnell downplayed the notion that contentious GOP primaries have exposed disunity within his party.

Then he grimaced and puked in his Turtle Chow.

Music of the Right

To the tune of Music of the Night (from The Phantom of the Opera), music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, as performed by Teatro:

Shar-ron An-gle, lowers expectations,
She keeps yakking, asking for donations,
Nutty and so fruity, she looks like Howdy Doody…

There’s a Teabag in Every Crappy Meal!

From POST POLITICS at The Washington Post:

Sharron Angle, Nevada’s newly minted Republican Senate nominee, arrived in Washington on Tuesday to court GOP powerbrokers and try to prove that she is ready to take down Majority Leader Harry M. Reid. But as she made the rounds of the senators she came to see, the anti-Washington candidate seemed to go out of her way not to be seen.

All of Angle’s meetings took place behind closed doors, beginning with a stop at the Senate Republicans’ weekly luncheon as the guest of John Ensign (Nev.). She hustled past reporters without saying a word, and remained inside for an hour and a half.

What the article doesn’t tell you is that the gang went over to their favorite haunt, McRonald’s! They had lots of fun, and they were looked over by none other than the ghost of Ronald McReagan.  (If Sue Lowden had won the primary, would they have ordered Chicken McNuggets?)
