From Steve Benen at The Maddow Blog at MSNBC:
The reason there’s so much interest in who Donald Trump will choose for various positions in his administration is a simple principle: personnel is policy. We want to know what the Trump/Pence administration will do once it’s in power, so we keep an eye on his cabinet and White House selections to get a sense of the next White House’s substantive agenda.
And when it comes to health care, the president-elect apparently intends to go in a very dangerous direction.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will nominate Georgia Rep. Tom Price to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
From The Fix at The Washington Post:
Ted Cruz doesn’t care if John Boehner hates him. He likes it.
Ted Cruz is running for president.
No, he hasn’t announced it yet. But if you can tell a man by his actions […].
The latest example […] came Wednesday, when WaPo’s Bob Costa reported that Cruz was actively encouraging conservative House Republicans to oppose the spending bill pushed by Boehner aimed at addressing the crisis of undocumented children crossing at the southern border.
Kids, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry (Boohoo Boehner always goes with the latter). Do we celebrate the demise of Widdle Ewic Cantor’s political career, or do we mourn the fact that Teabagger fruitcake David Brat just might be the next asswipe in Congress?

Hey kids! I’m poking my head out of the computer/carpal tunnel doldrums rabbit hole. How could I not post something now that Mitt Romney has selected his running mate? I’m still having massive computer problems (it turns off constantly with no warning whatsoever), so I figured I’d dust off some old posters that are once again relevant. Let’s begin with the new team, Mittsie and
Eddie Munster Paul Ryan…
Well, at least
Grandpa Dick Cheney will be happy…

Former tea party candidate and U.S. Senate hopeful Christine O’Donnell has cast a, er, endorsement Mitt Romney’s way.
Mostly, O’Donnell is best remembered for the “I’m not a witch, I’m you” ad that she produced, through admaker Fred Davis (now with the Jon Huntsman super PAC), which was met with much derision.
Derision? I wonder from whom.

From the Atlantic wire:
Glenn Beck, a conservative provocateur who has a burgeoning news site called The Blaze
; Andrew Breitbart, a conservative provocateur who’s run his own news site Breitbart.com and conservative-slanted Big aggregation network
The Opening Serve: Glenn Beck hasn’t been shy about voicing his opinion on Newt Gingrich ever since the former Speaker of The House began to surge in the polls. We noted he played a little bit of gotcha journalism with Gingrich, but Beck took it a step further and went on Fox Business this past weekend to air his grievances:
If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama… ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for [Newt Gingrich], it must be about race. I mean, what else is it? It’s the policies that matter.
