Rallying the Oops!

From Vox:

Democrat Andy Beshear has won the Kentucky governor’s race, ousting sitting Republican Gov. Matt Bevin, and giving Democrats a big win in a conservative state.

It’s a major loss for Republicans in a state where they hold supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature, both US Senate seats, and five out of the state’s six House seats. Bevin pulled out all the stops to clinch a win; President Donald Trump rallied in Lexington, Kentucky, Monday night ahead of the election to turn out voters. But even that last-ditch effort wasn’t enough — a sign that Trump’s influence isn’t omnipotent.

Stand by your man

So, I am sure that all you kids saw the abomination of a press conference today at Twitler Tower. There is plenty of consternation across the board for the asshole-in-chief, but I have noticed that there is a severe lack of condemnation for those who support him and those who were literally standing by him.

Something’s weird, relatively

As if it’s not bad enough that he has his daughter-wife as a special adviser in the White House, what’s the deal with Twitler’s hiring of other relatives of reheated Rethuglicans?

Toady Foster

From VANITY FAIR:

On Monday, Trump convened his first full Cabinet meeting since taking office, gathering the heads of every major government agency for a press gaggle around the elliptical mahogany table that occupies a prominent place in the West Wing. Traditionally, the media is present only at the beginning of such meetings, during which the president makes a brief statement and a few photos are snapped before a review of the administration’s progress continues behind closed doors. Trump tried something a little different.

I’ll take ‘Rigging Elections’ for a few million, ALEC

From Sandra Khalifa at CAMPUS PROGRESS:

If there has been any doubt regarding the intent behind this year’s upsurge in voter ID legislation, Governor Scott Walker’s latest move leaves little room to question the conservative disenfranchisement agenda, at least in the state of Wisconsin. In what seems like a blatant attempt to lessen the accessibility of photo identification, Governor Walker’s administration has announced the closure of sixteen DMV centers throughout the state – for “economic” purposes.

Going Off-Track

From NAKED POLITICS at The Miami Herald:

Two Florida senators just sued Gov. Rick Scott in the Florida Supreme Court to stop him from killing a Tampa-Orlando bullet train.

Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa, and Republican Thad Altman of Melbourne said Scott had over-stepped his authority by rejecting the project, which received a green light after a December 2009 special legislative session about passenger rail. The lawsuit would force Scott to accept about $2.4 billion in federal transit money for the high-speed rail plan.

Tunnelvision

From The Trentonian:

TRENTON — Hamilton native and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey bigwig Bill Baroni, whose bistate agency pledged to pump $3 billion into an ambitious train tunnel project, refused to comment Thursday after Gov. Chris Christie killed the plan.

Baroni deferred to his Port Authority press flack, Ron Marsico, who also refused to comment on Christie’s sweeping action to pull the plug on a decades-in-the-making train tunnel connecting New Jersey and Manhattan.

Now how do we get rid of Clunkers in the Senate?

From The Greenville News:

While the suddenly cash-strapped cash-for-clunkers program has been a big hit with car dealers and car buyers, it’s not popular with U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint.

“I just think this is a great example of the stupidity that’s coming out of Washington right now,” DeMint said on “Fox News Sunday.”
