Texass 2-(Mis)Step

From Alex Pareene at Salon:

Even though they have the exact same style of speaking and propensity to execute innocent people, current Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Texas Gov. George W. Bush are very different politicians. And they don’t like each other, according to the New York Times. Or rather their staffs and “camps” don’t like each other.

Rick Perry was Bush’s lieutenant governor. Whether the two men personally like each other is totally unknown (politicians don’t like other humans anyway; that is why they go into politics), but Perry is “signaling” that he is very different from Bush because Bush was a terrible president who left office hated by everyone and Rick Perry would maybe like to be the next president (or he is at least surrounded by people who think he could be the next president).

The New New Hampshire, Now Located in Massachusetts

From politicalticker at CNN:

At a time when the former Alaska governor appears to be shrinking from the spotlight, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is stepping up as yet another favorite daughter of the conservative movement.

In recent television appearances, political activities and speaking engagements, Bachmann has matched Palin’s slams against President Obama and garnered seemingly equal affection from conservative activists.

But it remains to be seen whether embarrassing and highly publicized gaffes will affect her presidential chances.

Saint Conspiraca

We’ll have to take a little break in the continuing coverage of St. Ronnie Reagan for a different saint.  I didn’t have time to photoshop anything today, but I did make a pic for Seneca Doane over at the Big Orange, so we’ll use that over here tonight.  My apologies.

From Hot Dish Politics at the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Rep. Michele Bachmann might have arrived a half-hour late for the first nationwide Tea Party Town Hall, but she got there in plenty of time to raise the alarm – Paul Revere style – about the imminent threat of a faraway government with designs on its citizens’ freedoms and liberties.

Tater Tot

From THINK PROGRESS:

Late last week, the Ben Quayle for Congress campaign released a new YouTube video featuring the young Republican blasting the government for supposedly “loading massive debt on the backs of Americans so the politicians can keep spending money on their agenda.”

The video begins with Quayle saying that, while “numbers can be boring, every American can and must understand the numbers I’m about to describe.” He warns that “America is today spending well over 14.5 trillion dollars a year”:

You’ve Got Mail…Blessed By Saint Ronnie!

From GAWKER:

Since the dawn of electronics, patriotic conservatives have longed to possess email addresses under the domain “Reagan.com.” At long last, Ronald Reagan‘s eldest son, Michael, has made these addresses available… for $34.95 a year. Because “free” services are liberal.

Now Playing at EweTube

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Carly Fiorina’s U.S. Senate campaign has created the nation’s newest online star – the “demon sheep” – in its new ad attacking the Republican primary’s front-runner, former South Bay Rep. Tom Campbell.

100 Days

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

In his first 100 days as president, Barack Obama has marshaled a potent array of political weapons to keep himself at the top of public opinion polls – a blend of skillful communication and messaging, unprecedented voter outreach and the creative use of technical, youth-oriented organizing tools never before seen in American presidential politics.

…snip…

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele can complain all he wants about “teleprompter” politics – and the “permanent campaign” of the Democratic president – but in his short time in office, the 44th president has used more than a teleprompter to keep his poll numbers high and his public image burnished.
