When you are so sexist, you can’t be trusted to even talk to a woman

From THE CUT at NYMAG.com:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has a solution to the all-male judiciary committee that will preside over the Christine Blasey Ford hearing on Thursday. At a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, he revealed that he hired a “female assistant” to ask Ford questions about the sexual assault allegation she made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“We have hired a female… assistant to go on staff and to ask these questions in a respectful and professional way,” said Mitch McConnell, seemingly struggling to get out the word “female” and then taking a moment to recover.

…snip…

According to CNN, the committee hired an “experienced sex crimes prosecutor” to handle the questioning, but Judiciary Chairman Senator Chuck Grassley will not reveal that woman’s identity before the hearing out of concerns for her safety. The unnamed lawyer will be asking questions on the behalf of all 11 Republican senators on the committee.

“We have done it because we want to depoliticize the whole process like the Democrats politicized the Anita Hill thing,” Grassley said to CNN.

…snip…

However, Ford’s lawyers have reportedly pushed back against having outside counsel participate in the hearings. “This is not a criminal trial for which the involvement of an experienced sex crimes prosecutor would be appropriate,” an attorney for Ford wrote in a statement to the committee. “The goal should be to develop the relevant facts, not try a case.”

The Democrats will also be asking questions, but they have not hired anyone to do so on their behalf. Several of the Democratic senators protested the Republican’s decisions to keep the identity of their hired lawyer secret.

…snip…

Even Republicans that weren’t on the Judiciary Committee said that they would not want to question Christine Blasey Ford. “Somebody will do something that you guys will run 24/7,” said Senator Bob Corker.

  1. Is that McConnell’s head replacing the younger guy from the original ad?

The only way this could be more perfect would be if that “female assistant” also turns out to have been the target of some sexual impropriety by Kavanaughty when she was in law school, and lodges yet another accusation.

But I suppose it’s the best option they have. Let these old dudes handle their own questioning and you just know one of them would eventually come out with a howler for the ages, maybe even Akin or Mourdock caliber. They’re way too prone to that sort of thing.

    • That is, indeed, Yertle McConnell. Very difficult to find pics of people facing in the direction I need them to be facing.

They picked Rachel Mitchell of Maricopa County in Arizona. Same shithole county that employed Joe Arpaio for so many years. What does that tell you?

I don’t think they’ve done themselves any favors, starting with calling a professional prosecutor a “female assistant.” If they all sit there stone-faced during the questioning, they’ll look like idiots. If they speak, they will be insulting their “female assistant.” They will all speak during the breaks and after the hearing, so they will take every opportunity to say something stupid and insulting. Hand them all shovels, let the digging commence!!!

  2. What next? The bustards of the GOP controlled senate are making me more that ill and angry. All of them are bustards and connivers and bullies just like their famous leader that made a fool of himself today at the UN. Maybe the questioning will get some laughs just like people laughed at el Trump-O when he opened his mouth. But really, a female, from Arizona?

I have been missing your posts, Now I need to see if you have been posting and if your posts have been going to my spam email. Or if you have not been writing.

    • I haven’t been posting much lately. I think I am get overwhelmed by the bullshit.

I have my own hypothesis about St. Brett the Virgin. I think he’s gay. That would not have been welcome news in his Catholic household or his Catholic prep school, so he drank to cover his religiously-induced shame. He took his anger out on weaker females. That would explain why there was a lot of groping and demeaning of females, but no actual intercourse. It would also explain the drinking and why he was a virgin for many years after graduating, according to his own words. He likes attractive female law clerks surrounding him, because, just like in high school, he thinks that will convince his friends of his male studliness. I would feel sorry for him if he wasn’t such a piece of shit.

      • Hmm. odd that you would say he is gay- because I think the same thing. From my years of dealing with so many personalities and what I know about gay people, I learned the nuances, mannerisms, walk, tone of voice and how gay people pronounce their words. And also through reading lots of psychiatric books about various kinds of deviant behavior. I can usually spot one just by looking at their face. Mr. K. has somewhat of an effeminate look, at least in my opinion. And as you mentioned, trying to dominate women in a sexual manner is also a give away. Many gays, especially men drink to cover up their femininity and feelings but, if they get too drunk, some will let their hair down and use drunkenness as an excuse to have sex with a same sex partner. However, many times when drunk their true personality shows and when their guard is down, they actually begin acting more feminine.

Men who are constantly chasing women and go have multiple partners, are subconsciously gay or else hiding their homosexuality. I read that many years ago in one of my psych book.s. Women need to be wary of a Don Juan.

As an aside,. I don’t know what Mr. K. sounds like. Maybe he has a masculine voice. I don’t even know if he has been recorded speaking. Like you, I have to take the news in measured doses.

        • I don’t believe that being gay is any kind of deviant behavior. It’s human behavior, and forcing people, through cultural norms or religion, is inhumane. That’s why I would almost feel sorry for him, if he wasn’t such an asshole.

I don’t think every man who constantly chases women is afraid they are gay. I think they are just insecure.

this whole hearing is a debacle. i hope the american people see how misogynistic the rethugs are and react in november.

    • It’s all theater, but let’s enjoy watching the Goopers make fools of themselves. What faces will they put on for the cameras? I don’t think they will be able to mask their contempt for women for very long. Oh, and I just read that Dianne Feinstein has to give her permission for Chucky Boy GrASSley to hire an outside interrogator.

You love “government”. Stop whining .

    • I don’t whine. I hire “female assistants” to whine for me. I suggest you hire one to write your comments, since yours makes little sense.

      Thanks for visiting! 😀
