President Trump is rewarding senators that support him on impeachment with bundles of campaign cash, drawing accusations of political bribery.
On Wednesday, Trump’s campaign issued a fundraising appeal to supporters to donate funds that would be equally distributed among Sens. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, and Thom Tillis, R-N.C., all of whom are supporting the resolution [to condemn the House impeachment inquiry] and face tough re-election battles in 2020.

According to a report in the Washington Post, GOP lawmakers in both the House and the Senate have grown weary of having to provide a daily defense for Donald Trump’s actions which may have an impact on whether he is impeached or not.
According to the report, “Republican senators are lost and adrift as the impeachment inquiry enters its second month, navigating the grave threat to President Trump largely in the dark, frustrated by the absence of a credible case to defend his conduct and anxious about the historic reckoning that likely awaits them.”
Summing it up, one anonymous GOP senator said, “It feels like a horror movie.”

From CBS News:
Washington — President Trump moved on Wednesday to stave off the most serious threat to his presidency yet, releasing a summary of a conversation with the president of Ukraine that’s at the center of an impeachment inquiry by House Democrats. In a series of public appearances, Mr. Trump argued the summary cleared him of wrongdoing, despite it showing he repeatedly urged the Ukrainian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, his potential Democratic rival.

From THE HILL:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday dismissed criticism from MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, stating in an interview on Fox News Radio that one thing he’s “not going to worry about is pleasing Joe Scarborough.”
The push back comes after Scarborough, who left the Republican Party last year after saying he could not be in a party that backed President Trump, said Graham had “sold his soul” by supporting the president on a number of issues.

A top Senate Republican leader blocked passage Thursday of a non-binding bipartisan resolution related to Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, as fallout from the controversial summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin continued to reverberate through the GOP-controlled Congress.
Also, senators were set to vote within the hour on another resolution written by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, that rejects a proposal from Putin that might allow the Russian government interview American officials, including former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul.

Dan Cluchey has an essay about Susan Collins at Medium. He talks about her relationship with Margaret Chase Smith, the first Republican female senator from Maine, and how Suze is a complete failure in comparison. Suze makes believe that she is a moderate, but what she really is is a con artist. Rip off the mask, and she’s just another Rethug opportunist.
