A Future that’s Gloomy. Thanks, Senator Toomey

From Philadelphia:

Senate Republicans unveiled their version of a bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act today—and behind that legislation is Pennsylvania’s own Sen. Pat Toomey.

The bill includes cuts to Medicaid that are more severe than the health care legislation passed by House Republicans last month. Compared to the ACA, the House bill would leave 5 million more people who rely on Medicaid uninsured next year, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

What’s that awful smell?

Republican Speaker Eddie Munster Paul Ryan:

The president’s new at this. He’s new at government. He’s not steeped in the long running protocols that establish the relationships between DOJ, FBI and White Houses.

So, Eddi…I mean, Speaker Ryan, just when can we expect that new president stench to wear off? We need to know, because, Lordy, like the gastrointestinally-delicate James Comey, we are really nauseous!

A Whiter Shade of White

Anyone of you kids gonna watch the new Megyn Kelly show tonight? Nah, me either. Here are a few things to remember about Roger Ailes’s enthusiastic acolyte as NBC tries to whitewash her record.

From MEDIA MATTERS:

Kelly frequently hosted hate group leaders and extremists on her Fox News show

Covfefe: If You Have the Mirror, We Have the Smoke

Washington (CNN)At 12:06 a.m. ET, the President of the United States tweeted this: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”

By 6 a.m., that tweet had been deleted. Shortly after, Trump tweeted this: “Who can figure out the true meaning of “covfefe” ??? Enjoy!”

It was easy to figure out with just a little research and a phone call to Dr. Harold Bornstein, Twitler’s medical doctor.

Classified Gets Assified

Washington (CNNPresident Donald Trump’s consequential meeting with two of Russia’s top foreign operatives earlier this month has cast a pall over his administration, raising questions about the President’s ability to handle classified information when meeting with sometimes adversarial foreign leaders.

The Big Queasy

James Comey testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee:

It makes me mildly nauseous to think we might have had an impact on the election. But, honestly, it wouldn’t change the decision.

Guess Who Didn’t Come to Dinner!

If you didn’t see Hasan Minhaj at the White House Correspondence Dinner last night, you must correct that immediately! From Vox:

“This has been one of the strangest events I’ve ever done in my life,” Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj said late in his set at Saturday’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner, before going on to say he felt like a tribute in the Hunger Games, waiting to see “if Steve Bannon is going to eat me.”

It was part of a good, but odd, performance from the comedian, who was hampered by the fact that the person he spent the most time making fun of — President Donald Trump himself — wasn’t in the room. (For his part, Trump accused the media of spreading “fake news” and said they deserved a “big fat failing grade” during a rally for supporters the same evening in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.)

Hasan has been my favorite Daily Show correspondent for a while, but right now, to me he is….
